摘要: Techniques for preparing an electrocatalyst include growing and immobilizing an earth-abundant metal on an MXene two-dimensional (2D) substrate using a solvothermal, hydrothermal, or electrodeposition process. The earth-abundant metal may include NiFeOOH. The earth-abundant metal may include Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Ti, V, Cr, and a combination thereof. The earth-abundant metal may be nanoparticles. The nanoparticles may include multiple metals. The electrocatalyst may be provided for an oxygen evolution reaction. The electrocatalyst may produce a current density of 500-1000 mA/cm2 for at least 20 hours without degradation thereof.

摘要: A metal-air cell has a first housing part and a second housing part that together form a cell housing. The metal-air cell includes a metal based anode and a layer-shaped air cathode and an electrolyte. The first housing part has at least one air passage opening. A layer-shaped air diffusor is disposed between the first housing part and the air cathode. A layer-shaped separator is arranged between the air cathode and the metal based anode. The layer-shaped air diffuser is air-permeable and has a first side facing the air cathode and a second side facing away from the air cathode, wherein the layer-shaped air diffuser has a hydrophobic coating on at least one of the sides.

摘要: Electrochemical reactors with electrodes that have variable porosity across the electrode and associated methods are described. The electrodes are designed and micro-architected to have variable porosity and 3D flow. One example method of selecting porosities in an electrochemical reactor includes dividing an electrode of the electrochemical reactor into a plurality of unit cells and determining a plurality of cell-specific porosities for the plurality of unit cells as a function of a location for each of the plurality of unit cells. The cell-specific porosities are configured based on a rod diameter of each unit cell's internal structure relative to each unit cell's cell length, and each location in the electrode provides a selected fluid flow property and a selected conductive property to meet one or more performance metrics.

摘要: A membrane electrode assembly includes: a polymer electrolyte membrane; a pair of electrode catalyst layers disposed with the polymer electrolyte membrane therebetween while being in contact with a surface of the polymer electrolyte membrane; and a gas diffusion layer laminated on each of the pair of electrode catalyst layers. The gas diffusion layer includes a microporous layer in contact with the electrode catalyst layer and a diffusion substrate layer made of a fiber substrate. An average fiber diameter of a fiber material contained in the diffusion substrate layer is 10 times or more and 150 times of less of an average fiber diameter of the fibrous substance contained in the electrode catalyst layer.

A technique may produce a composite in which a metal simple substance or a metal oxide derived from reduced cations, or both of them are supported on a carrier. The technique may include at least: preparing a liquid phase mixture containing at least an alcohol compound as a first reducing agent, a phosphinic acid or a salt thereof as a second reducing agent, the carrier, and a source compound of one or more cations selected including Au, Ag, Cu, Pt, Rh, Ru, Re, Pd, and/or Ir; and reducing the cations in the liquid phase mixture.

摘要: In an embodiment, a Li-ion battery electrode comprises a conductive interlayer arranged between a current collector and an electrode active material layer. The conductive interlayer comprises first conductive additives and a first polymer binder, and the electrode active material layer comprises a plurality of active material particles mixed with a second polymer binder (which may be the same as or different from the first polymer binder) and second conductive additives (which may be the same as or different from the first conductive additives). In a further embodiment, the Li-ion battery electrode may be fabricated via application of successive slurry formulations onto the current collector, with the resultant product then being calendared (or densified).

摘要: An object of the present invention is to provide, in the manufacture of a membrane-catalyst assembly including a polymer electrolyte membrane and a catalyst layer bonded to the polymer electrolyte membrane, a method that achieves both the relaxation of thermocompression bonding conditions and the improvement of adhesion between the catalyst layer and the electrolyte membrane with high productivity. A main object of the present invention is to provide a method of manufacturing a membrane-catalyst assembly including an electrolyte membrane and a catalyst layer bonded to the electrolyte membrane, the method including a liquid application step of applying a liquid to a surface of the catalyst layer before bonding, and a thermocompression bonding step of bonding, to the electrolyte membrane, the catalyst layer to which the liquid is applied by thermocompression bonding.
