摘要: An apparatus for metering the delivery of an aerosol. The apparatus has a variable acoustic source and a microphone, both acoustically coupled to a volume having a fluid region and an air region. The apparatus may also include a processor to determine a volume of the air region based on signals received from the microphone and the variable acoustic source. A fluid valve is coupled to the processor, and is configured to allow an amount of fluid to exit the fluid region associated with the volume of the air region. An atomizer, coupled to the fluid region, is configured to aerosolize at least a portion of the fluid.

摘要: The audible alarm device comprises a coupling assembly, a chamber assembly and an air horn assembly, releasably separable from each other. The coupling assembly and the chamber assembly are movable by squeezing action so that in one relative position pressurized air from an air inlet in the coupling assembly is allowed through a valve assembly into an interior chamber in the chamber assembly, the air driving a bi-stable piston into repeated contact with a percussion diaphragm, producing a below surface audible sound. An exhaust passage permits air to pass from the interior chamber to the surrounding environment. When the coupling assembly and the chamber assembly are moved by diver action to a second relative position, the exhaust passage is blocked, forcing air in the interior chamber to exhaust to the air horn assembly, which produces an audible sound above the water surface.

摘要: A noisemaker assembly that includes an annular horn body having an inner wall, an outer wall and a groove disposed there between. The groove is open at the top surface of the horn body. A tubular mouthpiece is provided that extends into the horn body. The mouthpiece communicates with the groove inside the horn body. When air is blown into the mouthpiece, that air passes into the groove within the horn body. A membrane is placed over the horn body so that the membrane covers the top of the groove. When air is blown into the groove, the air slips past the membrane from inside the groove. This causes the membrane to vibrate and generate a loud low frequency noise. The horn assembly can be held within a housing. The housing has perforations to enable sound energy from the horn assembly to escape from the housing.

摘要: A device for generating an acoustic signal in a fluid includes an engine operable to repeat a thermodynamic process to vibrate a membrane of the engine to generate an acoustic signal having more than one period. The thermodynamic process includes heating mass inside a chamber of an engine to generate pressure inside the chamber; in response to generating the pressure, moving in a first direction a portion of a membrane of the engine; removing mass from inside the chamber to decrease the pressure inside the chamber; and in response to decreasing the pressure inside the chamber, moving the membrane portion in a second direction. Because the engine repeats the thermodynamic process, the engine can generate and sustain an acoustic signal for a significant amount of time. In addition, because the heat in the engine's chamber is generated by a chemical reaction, the engine may quickly generate a significant amount of pressure inside the chamber to quickly accelerate the membrane, and thus generate a powerful acoustic signal. Furthermore, various properties of the membrane and/or the thermodynamic process may be modified to tune the acoustic signal to a desired frequency and/or amplitude. Thus, the engine may be effectively used to generate acoustic signals for a number of different purposes, such detecting and ranging objects in a region, and in a number of different marine environments, such as a littoral environment that contains a large amount of noise, or a deep sea environment at high water pressure.

The cover also includes a relief valve for depressurizing the tank. In addition, the cover includes locking elements for locking the cover, which can include in turn a rotatable handle that triggers the relief valve when the locking elements are unlocked. A method for producing sound is also disclosed herein.
