Abstract: A method for synchronizing a simulation of a simulation model on a computer with a real-time system, the simulation and the real-time system each having a computing clock having a matching macro increment. The method includes the following features: awaiting a message from the real-time system, measuring a receiving instant of the message by the simulation, awaiting at least one further message of the real-time system, measuring the receiving instant of the further message by the simulation; calculating an averaged receiving instant based on the receiving instants of the message and the at least one further message; determining a starting instant of the simulation based on the averaged receiving instant such that the results of a macro increment of the real-time system are available to the simulation at the start of a macro increment.

Abstract: A gasoline particulate filter (GPF) diagnostic technique utilizes an upstream temperature sensor arranged at an upstream point relative to a GPF brick that the GPF is configured to house and configured to measure an upstream temperature of exhaust gas produced by an engine, a downstream temperature sensor arranged at a downstream point relative to the GPF brick and configured to measure a downstream temperature of the exhaust gas produced by the engine, and a controller configured to detect whether the GPF brick is damaged or missing based on a temperature difference between the upstream and downstream exhaust gas temperatures, a set of temperature thresholds, and a current operational mode of the engine.

Abstract: A system for use with a vehicle includes at least one device installed or present onboard the vehicle and configured to sense or determine at least one condition or characteristic of the vehicle or its driver. The at least one device communicates the condition or characteristic with a remote site or web service using a wireless communication device. The remote site or web service correlates or compares the condition or characteristic of the vehicle or its driver with road conditions, capacities, facilities, and/or established safety data associated with the upcoming roadway, and determines whether the vehicle should stop or enter a facility due to an incompatibility or conflict between the condition or characteristic and the road conditions, capacities, facilities, and/or established safety data. The remote site or web service then communicates the determination of whether the vehicle should stop or enter the facility to the device on the vehicle.

Abstract: A failure diagnosis system includes a sensor that detects diagnosis target information of a diagnosis target device; a setting portion that sets a type of a determination value based on the diagnosis target information to be used for determination of whether an abnormality occurs in the diagnosis target device; and a diagnosis unit including a determination portion that determines whether the abnormality occurs in the diagnosis target device on the basis of the determination value of the type set by the setting portion. The diagnosis unit includes a first interface that outputs a determination result in the determination portion to a first external device, and a second interface that outputs a determination value of a type that is not set by the setting portion in addition to the determination value of the type set by the setting portion to a second external device.

Abstract: Provided is a residual stress estimation method and a residual stress estimation device capable of suppressing the number of cut pieces to be collected for measuring inherent strain without deteriorating residual stress estimation accuracy. In a case where it is assumed that the inherent strain is uniformly distributed in one direction in a structure, a user measures residual stress from a cut piece collected in a region in which the inherent strain is uniformly distributed and inputs the measured value to the residual stress estimation device. The residual stress estimation device estimates a two-dimensional inherent strain distribution on an analysis surface perpendicular to the one direction in the structure using the input residual stress measured value, transfers the estimated two-dimensional inherent strain distribution to the one direction, and estimates a three-dimensional inherent strain distribution in the structure.

Abstract: A monitoring system includes a hydraulic accumulator including a piston movably disposed therein. At least one seal encompasses the piston. A first pressure sensor is configured to monitor pressure of a first fluid in a first chamber. A second pressure sensor is configured to monitor pressure of a second fluid in a second chamber. A first temperature sensor is disposed in the first chamber and configured to monitor the temperature of the first fluid. A second temperature sensor is disposed in the second chamber and configured to monitor the temperature of the second fluid. An electronic control unit is in communication with the sensors and programmed to in response to receiving pressure signals from the pressure sensors and temperature signals from the temperature sensors, determine a wear volume of the at least one seal; and compare the wear volume of the at least one seal to a predetermined threshold wear volume of the at least one seal to determine the remaining useful life of the hydraulic accumulator.

Abstract: A field of test methods, and more particularly to a method for testing a device, the method including one operating stage corresponding to a stable value of one operating setpoint for the device and/or for a test bench for testing the device. The operating stage is finalized before a maximum duration threshold if a criterion associated with a set of physical parameters picked up during the operating stage is satisfied and if a confidence level associated with the set of physical parameters reaches at least a predetermined threshold.
