The radially outer ends of the cylinders are closed by cylinder covers (33). Three pairs of pistons (15), rigidly connected together by piston rods (17), are carried on a crankshaft (21) that is rotatable about a second axis of rotation (23) that is parallel to and eccentric to the first axis of rotation (7). The piston rods (17) are seated on three eccentric disks (25), likewise displaced 120.degree. with respect to one another, on the crankshaft (21). Gas exchange takes place through piston-controlled ports (51, 53) of the cylinders (13). In the gas-exchange path of the ports (51, 53) rotary slide valve control arrangements (57), which optionally control gas exchange together with the piston-controlled ports (51, 53), are provided on at least the exhaust side. Gas intake may take place through rotary slide valve controls, or through an intake channel terminating in a crankshaft chamber of the cylinder rotor (5) and connected with the intake ports by overflow channels. In an internal combustion engine, a blower driven by a variable-speed motor may be provided for control of the degree of filling of the combustion chambers (37).

    摘要: A two-cycle internal combustion engine is provided which comprises: a cylinder receiving a reciprocative piston and having a top portion provided with a combustion chamber in which a spark plug faces; an exhaust port laterally opening into the cylinder; at least one first scavenging port opening into the cylinder at one side of the exhaust port; and at least one second scavenging port opening into the cylinder at another side of the exhaust port opposite to said one side. Each of the first and second scavenging ports directs scavenging gas away from the exhaust port. The first scavenging port opens into the cylinder with an upward inclination for directing a first portion of the scavenging gas upwardly toward the top portion of the cylinder, whereas the second scavenging port is oriented to direct a second portion of the scavenging gas transversely of the cylinder toward a wall portion of the cylinder where the first scavenging port is formed.

    摘要: The crank case of a twin cylinder engine is divided into two compartments, one for each cylinder. An intake chamber provided in the crank case between the two compartments has a port opening into each of the compartments. A valve disc on the crank shaft in each of the compartments overlies the port opening into the respective compartment and has an opening registrable with the port when the crank shaft is in a selected angular position to permit entry of a charge from the intake chamber into the respective compartment of the crank case. The charge may be a fuel-air mixture or, in the case of fuel injection into the crank case or the cylinder, it may be air. In either event oil may be included in the charge for lubrication. A seal is provided between the port of the intake chamber and the valve disc by a floating sealing ring of low friction material having a flat face which is pressed against the valve disc by a pressure ring of elastomeric material which may, for example, be of sponge structure or may be formed with a base portion and a selected number of flexible webs which press against the sealing ring and forming passageways for entry of crankcase gas under pressure between the base portion of the elastomeric ring and the sealing ring to partially balance pressure tending to unseat the sealing ring.
