摘要: The present invention relates to agricultural practices for maximizing carbon sequestration, enhanced productivity, sustainable farming and minimizing greenhouse gas emissions. In one embodiment, there is provided a method comprising: planting a Brassica carinata variety as a second crop in rotation with a first crop or to replace fallow; implementing land management practices to reduce the use of fossil fuel inputs and to maximize the capture of atmospheric carbon by the plant material of Brassica carinata; harvesting of the Brassica carinata variety to obtain the grain; and returning about 70% to about 90% of all plant material from the Brassica carinata variety aside from the grain to the soil. As a result, the overall greenhouse gas emissions associated with agriculture are reduced. In some embodiments, the method further comprises producing grain for use in the production of a plant-based feedstock for producing low carbon intensity fuels; for adding carbon in soil; and/or acquiring a carbon credit.

摘要: The present invention provides a blended fuel and methods for producing the blended fuel, wherein a low carbon fuel derived from a renewable resource such as biomass, is blended with a traditional, petroleum derived fuel. A blended fuel which includes greater than 10% by volume of low carbon fuel has an overall improved lifecycle greenhouse gas content of about 5% or more compared to the petroleum derived fuel. Also, blending of the low carbon fuel to the traditional, petroleum fuel improves various engine performance characteristics of the traditional fuel.

摘要: Methods and systems disclosed herein can treat biomass compositions to produce valuable products, reduce emissions, and decarbonize biomass. The biomass compositions can be raw biomass (e.g., green, woody-plant derived) or waste biomass (e.g., industrial waste, pulp and paper processes, construction materials). The biomass compositions can be mixed with a reagent to form a mixture. The reagent can include ammonia. The mixture can be reacted to separate one or more components from the biomass and form a treated biomass composition. The one or more components can include lignin, polylactic acid, carbon oxides, methane, minerals, volatiles, or semi-volatiles. The treated biomass can be dried and processed into heating pellets that have higher calorific value and fewer emissions than conventional heating chips. The separated components can be used to produce valuable products, such as wood composites, bioplastics, fertilizer, fuels, lignin anodes for batteries, additives, glues, resins, and bio-based carbon fiber.

摘要: The present disclosure relates to biofuels, and more particularly, to biomass-based kerosene and aviation turbine fuels. In an aspect, a method is disclosed for producing a light paraffinic kerosene (LPK) where the method includes hydrotreating a biorenewable feedstock to yield a heavy hydrotreater fraction comprising C14-C24 n-paraffins; hydroisomerizing and hydrocracking the heavy hydrotreater fraction with a hydroisomerization catalyst under conditions yielding a hydroisomerizer product that includes a heavy hydroisomerizer fraction and the LPK; and separating the LPK from the hydroisomerizer product. The LPK provided by the method has an existent gum value of 7 mg/100 mL or less as measured according to IP 540 air evaporation method and further includes (a) a weight ratio of isoparaffins to n-paraffins of about 2:1 or greater, or (b) no detectable hydrocarbons with 14 or more carbon atoms as measured by gas chromatography, or (c) a weight ratio of isoparaffins to n-paraffins of about 2:1 or greater and no detectable hydrocarbons with 14 or more carbon atoms as measured by gas chromatography.

摘要: Compositions including a vegetable- or animal-derived oil, such as fatty acid alkyl esters, are stabilized against oxidation using an oxygenated aminophenol antioxidant. The aminophenol includes one or two carbon-containing group(s) including a hydroxyl group and/or ether group separated from the N atom by one or more carbon atoms. The oxygenated aminophenol antioxidants effective at controlling oxidation at moderate and even low amounts, useful in a variety of different oil and methyl ester fatty acid preparations, and were effective at elevated temperatures, and performed significantly better than convention antioxidants.

摘要: The present invention provides a method and a system for preparing fuel using high-acid-value biological grease, which can be processed through triple deoxidization steps, i.e., thermal cracking deoxygenation-catalytic cracking deoxygenation-catalytic hydrodeoxygenation. By use of the method and system of the invention, the raw material of the high-acid-value biological grease can be gradually deoxidized to reduce the acid value and thereby prepare a clean fuel with equivalent fuel components as those obtained from crude oil refining or direct hydrodeoxygenation for biological grease.
