摘要: Disclosed are compositions containing at least one of the following: (1) estolide polyethylene glycol diesters; (2) hydroxy derived estolide polyethylene glycol diesters; (3) unsaturated hydroxy derived estolide polyethylene glycol diesters; (4) estolide trimetholpropane diesters; (5) hydroxy derived estolide trimetholpropane diesters; (6) unsaturated hydroxy derived estolide trimetholpropane diesters; (7) estolide epoxide polyethylene glycol diesters; (8) estolide dihydroxide polyethylene glycol diesters; (9) mono-capped hydroxy derived estolide epoxide polyethylene glycol diesters; (10) mono-capped hydroxy derived estolide dihydroxide polyethylene glycol diesters; and mixtures thereof; and optionally a carrier. All the compounds can be used as a viscosity index improver thereby improving a lubricant's performance.

摘要: Provided is a process for recovery of a functionalized compound reaction product comprising contacting (i) an oxidizing electrophile comprising a main group element, and (ii) a compound comprising at least one C—H bond, in an acidic medium to form a reaction milieu comprising a functionalized compound reaction product, contacting the reaction milieu with a water-immiscible organic solvent, separating the water-immiscible organic solvent from the reaction milieu, wherein the functionalized compound reaction product is dissolved in the water-immiscible organic solvent, and separating the functionalized compound reaction product and the water-immiscible organic solvent. The water-immiscible extraction solvent can be the same compound as the compound comprising as least one C—H bond, for example, propane or n-butane.

摘要: A catalytic process for the methoxycarbonylation of olefins where formic acid is the CO source. The process includes the steps of forming a reaction mixture where methanol and formic acid are added at a volume ratio in the range from 1.55:0.45 to 1.1:09. The methanol-formic acid ratio enhances both the rate of conversion and methyl ester yield ether produced. The catalysts used is a palladium/benzene-base diphosphine ligand complex.

摘要: Oxidative dehydrogenation of paraffins to olefins provides a lower energy route to produce olefins. Oxidative dehydrogenation processes may be integrated with a number of processes in a chemical plant such as polymerization processes, manufacture of glycols, and carboxylic acids and esters. Additionally, oxidative dehydrogenation processes can be integrated with the back end separation process of a conventional steam cracker to increase capacity at reduced cost.

摘要: An integrated process for the production of one or more acetylene derivatives is provided. The integrated process includes a) partially oxidizing a hydrocarbon feedstock to produce a partial oxidation mixture comprising H2, CO, and acetylene, b) providing the H2 and CO of the partial oxidation mixture to a collocated methanol production process to produce a methanol-containing effluent; c) providing the methanol-containing effluent to a collocated carbonylation process to produce an acetic acid-containing effluent; and d) providing the acetylene of the partial oxidation mixture and the acetic acid-containing effluent to one or more of the collocated acetylene-derivative processes following: i) a vinyl acetate monomer production process; ii) an oxidation unit for the production of formaldehyde from the methanol-containing effluent; iii) a vinyl chloride monomer production process, and/or iv) a 1,4-butanediol production process.

摘要: Polymers, particularly those used in pressure-sensitive adhesives, are prepared from a mixture of structural isomers of a secondary alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer. The mixture is made by dehydrating a biobased C2-C22 alcohol with a first acid catalyst using a continuous process to form a mixture of olefins, and reacting (meth)acrylic acid with at least some of the mixture of olefins in the presence of a second acid catalyst. The adhesives are characterized by exhibiting an overall balance of adhesive and cohesive characteristics, and containing biobased material.

摘要: A method for preparing an estolide compound and an estolide compound prepared thereby are disclosed. The method for preparing an estolide compound includes: converting biomass fat into a fatty acid; separating the fatty acid into a C16 saturated fatty acid and a C18 unsaturated fatty acid; preparing a linear internal olefin (LIO); increasing an amount of oleic acid through partial hydrogenation of the C18 unsaturated fatty acid; synthesizing an estolide polymer through cross metathesis of the oleic acid; capping the C16 saturated fatty acid onto the estolide polymer; and reacting the estolide polymer with the linear internal olefin.

The method for preparing a ketone group-containing estolide compound includes converting biomass fat into a fatty acid; separating the fatty acid into a C16 saturated fatty acid and a C18 unsaturated fatty acid; increasing an amount of oleic acid through partial hydrogenation of the C18 unsaturated fatty acid; synthesizing a C35 ketone through ketonization of the oleic acid; and performing estolide bonding by capping the C16 saturated fatty acid onto the C35 ketone.
