Abstract:
An acoustic transducer includes a sound-producing member at least partially disposed within the first magnetic flux gap region between the magnetic poles. The sound-producing assemblage is magnetically excited through a magnetic circuit that passes from a location outside the magnetic flux gap region to inside the magnetic flux region through an air gap. The moving member is controllably movable under the influence of at least one varying magnetic field, and its movement is constrained by a unique combination of mechanical restraints and magnetic restraints imposed upon the moving member by the interaction of a plurality of magnetic fields.
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing a magnetic write pole of a magnetic write head for perpendicular magnetic recording. A magnetic write pole material is deposited, followed by union milling hard mask, a polymer mask under-layer followed by a dielectric hard mask material, followed by a photoresist. The photoresist is patterned to define a write pole shape and the shape of the patterned photoresist is transferred onto the underlying dielectric hard mask by a novel reactive ion etching that is performed in a chemistry that includes one or more fluorine containing gases and He. The presence of He in the reactive ion etching tool helps to improve the profile of the patterned dielectric hard mask. In addition, RIE parameters such a gas ratio (e.g. CF4 to CHF3 gas ratio) and power ratio (e.g. source power to bias power) are adjusted to optimize the profile of the patterned dielectric mask.

In a first preferred embodiment, an underwater alert system (10) includes a transmitter assembly (12), carried by a first diver (14), that transmits a predetermined wireless signal (36) to a receiver assembly (16), carried by a mask (18) worn by a second diver (20), that generates an alert to gain the attention of the second diver (20). In a second preferred embodiment, the underwater alert system (10) includes a first transceiver assembly (232), carried by a mask worn by a first diver (14), communicating a predetermined wireless signal (36) with a second transceiver assembly (254), carried by a mask (18) worn by a second diver (20), to permit the first diver and second diver to gain each other's attention. In a third preferred embodiment, the underwater alert system (10) includes a transmitter assembly (12), carried by a first diver (14), that transmits a wireless signal (36), related to data about the first diver's (14) body, equipment, and/or environment, to a receiver assembly (16), carried by a second-diver (20), that communicates to the second person information related to the data.
Abstract:
An electroacoustic transducer, which has a diaphragm, a support member for supporting the diaphragm, a pole piece placed inside the support member and comprising a core and a base, a coil wound around the core, and a magnet placed between the support member and the coil, in which the diaphragm is made of resin to which a magnetization is applied.
Abstract:
A solid marine seismic cable assembly includes a cable, hydrophone housings, a buoyant filler, and an outer protective jacket. The cable includes a load-bearing fiber bundle, data-transmitting wires, power conductors, optical fibers, and a protective sheath. The data-transmitting wires, power conductors, and optical fibers surround the load-bearing fiber bundle. The protective sheath surrounds the assembly of the data-transmitting wires, power conductors, optical fibers, and the load-bearing fiber bundle. The hydrophone housings affix around the cable in a spaced-apart relationship. Each hydrophone housing includes a hydrophone module, and each hydrophone module contains a hydrophone. The buoyant filler surrounds the cable, and separates the hydrophone housings. The outer protective jacket surrounds the hydrophone housings and the buoyant filler, enclosing the cable assembly.
Abstract:
A transducer, in particular suitable for hearing aids, comprising a coil, two spaced magnet elements, a membrane, and an E-shaped armature, a middle leg of the E-shaped armature extending through the coil and the two magnet elements and being coupled with the membrane by means of a connecting element, limiting means being provided for limiting the maximum deflection of the middle leg of the E-shaped armature, which limiting means cooperate with the end of the middle leg of the E-shaped armature.
Abstract:
A piezoelectric vibrator comprises a piezoelectric element having a rectangular shape and being provided with at least one input electrode from which an input lead extends and at least one output electrode from which an output lead extends; and a case having a rectangle-like shape for accommodating the piezoelectric element and having at least through holes through which the input and output leads penetrate thereby the leads project to an exterior of the case. The through holes have a size larger than a size of the leads to create a clearance between the leads and inner walls of the through holes so as to allow the leads to show a displacement or a vibration due to the vibration of the piezoelectric element. The case has a size larger than a size of the piezoelectric element for forming gaps between the piezoelectric element and the case to allow the piezoelectric element to be freely vibrate, the piezoelectric element being merely placed on a bottom of the case but not fixed nor adhered thereon to allow the piezoelectric element to be freely vibrated.
