    摘要: Inverse motion compensating devices are used to transform motion compensated transform domain video signals to corresponding transform domain video signals. A compositing mechanism receives the transform domain video signals from the inverse motion compensating devices and performs transform domain video compositing operations directly on the transform domain video signals. The compositing operations result in a single composited signal incorporating each of the transform domain video signals. The single composited signal may be encoded for motion compensation to generate a single motion compensated transform domain video signal suitable for transmission. After transmission, inverse transform domain operations and inverse motion compensation operations may be performed to reconstruct the composited signal. The composited signal may then be projected on a video display device.

    摘要: In a picture encoding apparatus, detection of a moving vector of half-pixel precision is executed by using a single clock without increasing the number of frame memories. Time-series input pixel data is transformed into parallel pixel data; the parallel pixel data obtained through the transformation is interpolated to thereby generate interpolating data on each pixel in an area specified by a moving vector of one-pixel precision. The interpolation data is output in parallel as pixel data on a plurality of interpolation block areas obtained by displacing by 1/2 pixel the block area specified by the moving vector at one-pixel unit, thereby making it possible to quickly obtain interpolation data solely on a region around the area specified by the moving vector at one-pixel unit. With this arrangement, interpolation can be executed with a substantially simplified construction as compared to the prior art, making it possible to easily detect a moving vector of half-pixel precision without increasing the number of frame memories of clock frequency.

    摘要: In an image coding system, block based motion estimation is used to determine motion vectors for blocks of pixels in a current frame or field. Only a portion of blocks from a predetermined pattern of blocks in a current frame or field are searched for a match with a block of pixels in a previous frame or field over a designated search area. Motion vectors for the blocks of the current frame or field not selected for searching are obtained by interpolation from motion vectors obtained for associated searched neighboring blocks, respectively, or by using the zero motion vector, or by performing a search over a limited range around the position defined by each of the motion vectors from neighboring blocks.
