Abstract: According to some embodiments of the disclosure, it is provided a method for encapsulating point cloud data into an ISOBMFF-based media file, the point cloud data being organized in point cloud frames. After having generated a track describing a sequence of samples, each sample comprising at least one point cloud frame, the sequence of samples comprising at least one sync sample and a plurality of non-sync samples, at least one non-sync sample of the plurality of non-sync samples comprising a parameter set, and after having generated metadata describing whether a non-sync sample of the plurality of non-sync samples requires, to be decoded, a parameter set from another non-sync sample of the non-sync samples, the track and the metadata are encapsulated in the media file.

Abstract: In general, the disclosure to techniques for regional random access within a picture of video data. For example, a video coding device receives a plurality of pictures in a coding order. Each respective picture of the plurality of pictures comprises a plurality of regions. For a first region in a first picture of the plurality of pictures, the video coding device determines that the first region is codable independent from each other region of the first picture and from a first region in a second picture preceding the first picture in the coding order and, responsive to making such a determination, determine that the first region in the first picture has random accessibility. The video coding device codes each video block in the first region independent from any video blocks outside of the first region.

Abstract: Decoder retrieval timing information, ROI information and tile identification information are conveyed within a video data stream at a level which allows for an easy access by network entities such as MANEs or decoder. In order to reach such a level, information of such types are conveyed within a video data stream by way of packets interspersed into packets of access units of a video data stream. In accordance with an embodiment, the interspersed packets are of a removable packet type, i.e. the removal of these interspersed packets maintains the decoder's ability to completely recover the video content conveyed via the video data stream.

The method is a method of combining a plurality of relevant files or a plurality of information streams that have an associated information relationship using a “multi-information modulation unit”, and then synchronously reproducing the relevant files or the information streams using a dedicated player capable of synchronously reproducing and playing back the multi-information. The step of synchronously recording the multi-information in the method is to insert “non-audio/video information” into an “audio/video steam before compression or after compression or a file thereof” using the “multi-information modulation unit”, that is, to embed some “additional information blocks” carrying the “non-audio/video information” into necessary “video frames” or “audio frames” and/or create or insert some “additional information frames” carrying the “non-audio/video information” between the necessary “video frames” and “audio frames”.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an inter-layer prediction method and to an apparatus implementing the method. The method may comprise the steps of generating a first block constituted by the value obtained by up-sampling the reconstruction value of a reference block of a reference layer corresponding to the current block; generating a second block constituted by a prediction value derived from intra-prediction mode of the current block; and generating a prediction block of the current block by combining sample values of the first block and the second block. Thus, intra-prediction on the current layer can be performed using the intra-prediction mode information of another layer.

Abstract: A method of adaptive loop filtering with implicit sample-based On/Off control for reconstructed video to improve the performance is disclosed. In one embodiment, each pixel of the video data associated with the reconstructed current image unit is classified into a first group and a second group. Adaptive Loop Filter (ALF) is then applied to these pixels belonging to the first group. For pixels in the second group, ALF is not applied. The image unit may correspond to one coding tree block (CTB) or one coding tree unit (CTU). Various classification means for classifying each pixel into a first group or a second group have also been disclosed. The adaptive loop filtering with implicit sample-based On/Off control may also be used as an additional mode in a system supporting block-based On/Off control.

Abstract: A video encoding apparatus appends decoding delay correction information and display delay correction information to encoded video data in order to ensure that even when one or more pictures that are later in encoding order in the video data than a first picture that may potentially be spliced to a trailing end of other encoded video data have been discarded, the first picture and subsequent pictures in the encoded video data can be continuously decoded and displayed by a video decoding apparatus. The video decoding apparatus corrects the decoding delay and display delay of the first picture and its subsequent pictures by using the decoding delay correction information and display delay correction information.
