Abstract:
An enhanced radio system is disclosed that provides for the capture and playback of one or more radio stations. A user may tune to a station, scan through stations, rewind through missed content (even while the system is off), and fast-forward through undesired content, while downloading and uploading audio content, and sending content to another user. A user may rate content, and be notified when that content is played on any station, with undesirable content skipped and desirable content saved, or station recommendations made. Support for multiple sets of configuration information to allow use by multiple listeners and in multiple locations may be provided. Optionally provided are security features to prevent the unauthorized downloading, uploading, and saving of copies of content, other radio related and content related information, a karaoke mode, integration with a telephone with the radio, or reporting usage information to a collection facility.
Abstract:
Allocating streaming content on a hybrid network can include searching for streaming content broadcast via broadcast signals over a broadcast network as a communications device is receiving the streaming content via a cellular network. Responsive to identifying, based on the searching, a within-range broadcast source broadcasting the streaming content via broadcast signals, the communications device can begin receiving the streaming content via the broadcast signals over the broadcast network and cease receiving the streaming content via the cellular network.
Abstract:
A unified communications system enables a user to simultaneously manage real time voice communication with background audio streams such as a music. In one embodiment, the system comprises a plurality of devices connected through a persistent voice over IP channel, where each device is playing background audio independently, and each device is operatively coupled to a microphone. When a connected user speaks, Voice Activity Detection results in the automatic adjustment of background audio on other connected devices, the adjustments based upon user-input settings on each device.
Abstract:
A method for retrieving and playing a TV program uses a mobile terminal. The mobile terminal captures one or more images of a TV program currently played on a TV using the image sensor and sends the images to a remote server. The remote server extracts a TV station identifier from the received images, compares the received images with images stored in an image library and corresponding to the TV station identifier, and determines an identity of the TV program when there is a match, generates an information record for the TV program, and returns the TV program information record to the mobile terminal, the TV program information record including a hyperlink to the TV program. After receiving the TV program information record from the remote server, the mobile terminal displays the hyperlink on the display of the mobile terminal.
Abstract:
A method includes receiving a distributed radio signal at a wireless communications device (WCD) from a first service provider. The method includes generating a bookmark associated with a first content item included in the distributed radio signal. The bookmark is generated based on radio application data when the WCD is radio-enabled, and the bookmark is generated based on pseudo-radio application data when the WCD is not radio-enabled. The method also includes transmitting the bookmark and a content request associated with the first content item from the WCD to a content source.
Abstract:
A viewing information collecting system includes a terminal and a server. The terminal outputs a broadcast program to be viewed, and generates viewing state information indicating a state that the broadcast program is viewed. The server retrieves subscriber information corresponding to ID information of the terminal from a subscriber database, and generates viewing analysis information in which some of the subscriber information is related to the viewing state information. Here, the subscriber database relates subscriber information to ID information.
Abstract:
An enhanced radio system is disclosed that provides for the capture and playback of one or more radio stations. The user may tune to a station, or scan through stations, rewind to hear what was missed (even while the system is turned off), and fast-forward through undesired content. The system allows a user to rate content, and to be notified when that content is being played on any station. The system may recognize content as it is broadcast and may jump to desirable content, save a copy of desirable content, or skip over undesirable content. The system may make radio station recommendations. The system may support multiple sets of configuration information to allow its use by multiple listeners and in multiple locations. The system allows the user to respond easily to radio content, download and upload audio content, and send radio content to another user. The system may allow a user to download information about content that the user wishes to record a copy of. The system may include security features to prevent the unauthorized downloading, uploading, and saving of copies of the radio content. The system may provide other radio related and radio content related information. The system may provide a karaoke mode. The system may also allow the user to integrate a telephone with the radio. The system may report usage information to a collection facility.

Abstract:
A mobile media device user interface is described. In one or more implementations, output of a plurality of audio content is monitored by a mobile media device. Each of the audio content was received via a respective one of a plurality of broadcast channels by the mobile media device. A user interface is displayed on a display device of the mobile media device, the user interface describing each of the plurality of audio content and the respective broadcast channel from which the audio content was received.
