An electronic device may include an interface unit, and a processor for storing information related to a plurality of broadcast channels that can be received through the interface unit, receiving a user input for selecting a channel number, identifying, on the basis of the stored information related to the plurality of broadcast channels, a broadcast standard corresponding to the selected channel number if a broadcast signal of a channel corresponding to the channel number selected according to the user input is not received, processing the frequency band of the broadcast signal corresponding to the selected channel number according to the identified broadcast standard, and controlling so that the stored information related to the plurality of broadcast channels is updated according to a processing result.

Methods and systems are employed for selectively controlling the presentation of broadcast content item in which a unique set of broadcast content items are presented based on the selection of a content type and a selection of a geography for each content type to control the manner in which broadcast content types are recorded and/or presented for the vehicle. In some embodiments, methods and systems are employed for providing relevant information to a vehicle based on receiving multiple broadcast streams, and separating the broadcast content items into segments based on a variety of content types along a predicted path of the vehicle.

System and methods related to video information distribution are provided. The system may obtain a video source address. The system may receive a video segment of a video stream from a remote server configured with the video source address. The system may parse the video segment for header information. The system may determine that a video corresponding to the video source address is playable on a remote device in response to the header information being included in the video segment. The system may store the video source address in a database. The database may include a plurality video addresses corresponding to respective videos that are playable on the remote device.

The present technique relates to a reception device, a reception method, a transmission device, and a transmission method, capable of flexibly supporting various operation modes.A service package unit processes, on a per-service basis, using an IP address included in each of packets, a particular service and a shared service related to the particular service, among a plurality of services transmitted via a broadcast wave of digital broadcasting using an IP transmission scheme. Accordingly, it is possible to flexibly support various operation modes in the digital broadcasting using the IP transmission scheme. It would be possible, for example, to apply the present technique to a television receiver.

The present disclosure relates to a method and system for receiving a broadcast signal. The system includes a broadcast receiver device having two receiving units, two decoding units, a combining unit and a further processing unit. A broadcast signal is received by both receiving units, so that two reception signals are provided. From each reception signal, a raw data stream is extracted and decoded by the decoding units. It is checked if the data stream provided by each decoding unit is complete. If a first data stream is complete, it is processed by the further processing unit. If the first data stream is incomplete and the second data stream is complete, the second data stream is further processed. If both data streams are incomplete, they will be combined to a combined data stream by the combining unit, the combined data stream being further processed, if it is complete.

A transmitting system and method therein are disclosed, by which mobile service data is received and processed. The transmitting system includes an encoder, a signaling encoder, a group formatter, a transmission unit. The encoder encodes mobile data and the signaling encoder encodes signaling information. The group formatter forms data groups having the encoded mobile and signaling information. The data groups have a plurality of data blocks and specific data blocks of the plurality of data blocks include known data sequences. The transmission unit transmit broadcast signal including a parade that includes a collection of data groups having same FEC parameters. And the signaling information includes information identifying the parade and first assigned data group number for the parade to which a first assigned data group belongs.

A method is provided that comprises tuning a radio system to a frequency band that contains a locally-broadcast terrestrial radio signal. The locally-broadcast terrestrial radio signal comprising a main signal component and a side data component is thereby received. In response to receiving the locally-broadcast terrestrial radio signal a determination is made as to a permissible time for processing the side data component using a time slot schedule. The side data component is processed at the permissible time. A message corresponding to the side data component is outputted to an output device. In some instances, the side data component includes the message. In other instances, the method further includes searching a message lookup list using a code included in the side data component. When a stored code is found that matches the code, the message corresponding to the matching stored code is outputted.

The method includes detecting a notification event related to a broadcasting service; generating a notification message about the notification event; determining which channel is used for a transmission of the notification message; and transmitting the notification message to a terminal or a group of terminals over the determined channel.

Abstract:
A method of operating a radio in a vehicle includes tuning the radio to a first radio source. Information identifying the first radio source is transmitted from the vehicle to a remote processor. The processor monitors broadcast content of the first radio source on a web site. The processor identifies a second radio source having broadcast content matching the broadcast content of the first radio source. Information identifying the second radio source is transmitted from the processor to the vehicle. When a quality of a broadcast signal from the first radio source received at the vehicle falls below a threshold quality level, tuning of the radio is switched from the first radio source to the second radio source.
