摘要: Terminals with multiple radio units employing different IF frequencies for RF to IF frequency downconversion are provided. Each radio unit is operative to process a respective input signal with a respective LO signal to provide a respective IF signal having a desired IF component at an IF frequency selected for that radio unit. The input signal for each radio unit includes RF components at different RF frequencies. The desired IF component for each radio unit corresponds to a downconverted version of one of the RF components in the input signal. The IF frequencies for the radio units are selected such that the desired IF components for these radio unit do not overlap one another in frequency. The IF frequencies may be selected such that, for each radio unit, the undesired IF components fall outside of the IF passband selected for that radio unit and may thus be filtered out.

摘要: A time-matching system includes a first terminal device and a communications relay device relaying communications between the first terminal device and a second terminal device on a wireless communications network. The first terminal device receives a GPS-data from a GPS satellite, executes a first correction procedure on a satellite time-data of the GPS data to generate a first time-data, and transmits the first time-data to the communications relay device. The communications relay device receives the first time-data, executes an intermediate correction procedure on the first time-data to generate an intermediate time-data, and transmits the intermediate time-data to the second terminal device. The first correction procedure is based on a time delay in communications between the GPS satellite and the first terminal device. The intermediate correction procedure is based on a time delay in communications between the first terminal device and the communications relay device.

摘要: Methods and apparatuses for synchronizing basestations in a cellular network. One exemplary method performs time synchronization between at least two basestations, a first basestation and a second basestation, of a cellular communication system. In this exemplary method, a first time-of-day and a first geographical location of a first mobile cellular receiver station (MS) are determined from a first satellite positioning system (SPS) receiver which is co-located with the first MS, and the first time-of-day and first location are transmitted by the first MS to a first basestation which determines a time-of-day of the first basestation from the first time-of-day and first location and from a known location of the first basestation. Also in this exemplary method, a second time-of-day and a second geographical location of a second MS are determined from a second SPS receiver which is co-located with the second MS, and the second time-of-day and the second location are transmitted to a second basestation which determines a time-of-day of the second basestation from the second time-of-day and the second location and a known location of the second basestation. Other methods and apparatuses are also described for synchronizing basestations in a cellular network.

摘要: A method and system for completing a communication of high importance on a congested communication system. The communication is transmitted between a communication device (e.g. a cordless telephone, a cellular telephone, a pager, a digital communication device, a personal digital assistant, or a wireless local loop device) and a base station. If uncongested channels are not available for communications between the communication device and the base station, a disabling signal is transmitted instructing emitting devices in the vicinity to reduce their emitted transmissions, thereby creating uncongested channels. Additionally, the communication device and base station can incrementally increase the power of transmitted signals until communications are established.

摘要: The wireless communications system synchronizes the current frequency and permits communication under the DECT protocol between a mobile unit and a fixed base station with rapid and frequent changes in frequency, as defined for example in the ADCT protocol. For this purpose a key is derived from the identification code transmitted by the base station. Lists containing random or pseudo-random frequency sequences are specified, and one of the lists is selected depending on the key transmitted, and the corresponding frequencies are used for the frequency change.

摘要: A system and method for managing access to a satellite-based transponder by a plurality of aircraft each having a mobile radio frequency (RF) system. The system employs a ground-based, central control system for managing access to the satellite-based transponder so that the aggregate power spectral density (PSD) of the RF signals of all the mobile systems does not exceed, at any time, limits established by regulatory agencies to prevent interference between satellite systems. This is accomplished by a dual control loop arrangement for monitoring the signal-to-noise ratio (Eb/No) of the RF signal transmitted by the satellite-based transponder. A ground-based control loop is used whereby a ground-based central controller monitors the Eb/No and transmits commands to the aircraft (via the satellite transponder) to maintain the Eb/No of the transmitted signal within a predetermined range. A fast scan angle compensation is used by the mobile system of the aircraft to implement another control loop to further adjust the transmit power. This control loop maintains the Eb/No of the signal transmitted to the satellite-based transponder at the commanded level inbetween updates from the ground-based central controller.

摘要: A data transmission process with auto-synchronised correcting code, auto-synchronised coder and decoder, corresponding transmitter and receiver. According to the invention, synchronisation management signals (HS, SS, ID) are formed and, under the control of these signals, a header is inserted before a data group and after it a correcting code. At receive end, these synchronisation management signals are reconstituted, the presence of a header is detected and any erroneous symbols are corrected. The invention also provides for an auto-synchronised coder and a decoder and for a transmitter and a receiver using them.
