    Abstract: A resonator for a radio frequency identification reader is provided. The resonator comprises: a waveguide closed at a proximal end and closed at a distal end and dimensioned to facilitate resonance in radio frequency waves having a frequency of operation so that the radio frequency waves produce an electric field in the waveguide having a peak intensity at a location between the proximal end and the distal end: a holder for holding one or more radio frequency identification tags at the location at which the electric field produced by radio frequency waves having the frequency of operation has a peak intensity; and a radio frequency feed point for coupling radio frequency signals between the waveguide and radio frequency identification reader circuitry.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a passive medical identification device 1 to be used for identifying a medical tool such as, for example, a surgical instrument, if the medical tool is equipped with the identification device. The identification device comprises a casing 2, a magnetic object 3 arranged within the casing such that it is rotatable out of an equilibrium orientation by an external magnetic torque, and a restoring torque provider 4 such as, for example, a further magnetic object providing a restoring torque forcing the magnetic object back into the equilibrium orientation. The magnetic object 3 rotationally oscillates upon excitation by an external magnetic torque, thereby generating a response magnetic signal which is transduced into an induction signal that can provide a fingerprint specific for the respective identification device. Accordingly, the identity of the identification device and hence of the medical tool equipped with the identification device can be determined based on the induction signal.

    Abstract: A barcode scanner assembly for capturing at least one object appearing in a field of view (FOV) is provided that includes a base defining a curved base surface and a scanner enclosure being mechanically coupled to the base. The scanner enclosure includes a top portion and a bottom portion opposite the top portion. The bottom portion of the scanner enclosure is positioned proximate to the base. The bottom portion of the scanner enclosure includes a curved scanner enclosure surface. The curved base surface and the curved scanner enclosure surface are nested such that a clearance of less than approximately 5 mm is formed between the curved base surface and the curved scanner enclosure surface.

    Abstract: The storage and retrieval system includes an enclosure housing multiple carousel assemblies mounted on the top of each other, a control system, a first set of drive mechanisms, a second set of drive mechanisms, and an authentication device. The control system receives input and user identification information from the user from the authentication device and stores it in a memory. During storage access, the control system identifies an available storage compartment that is nearest to the door of the enclosure and allocates it for the user. During retrieval access, the control system identifies the allocated compartment to the user. The control system then monitors the drive system to rotate the corresponding carousel assembly so that the allocated storage compartment is positioned in front of the door of the enclosure. The control system then unlocks the door and the user can access the storage compartment.

    Abstract: A hand-held-transceiver identifier device includes a processor device contained in a housing. A port is contained in the housing to receive a transceiver. A display is contained in the housing. Upon insertion of the transceiver in the port, the device interrogates the transceiver to obtain specification information. A computer-implemented method of identifying a transceiver device detects an insertion of the transceiver device, interrogates the transceiver device to obtain specification information, and detects a removal of the transceiver device.
