Abstract: A measuring system for determining and/or monitoring the quality of a liquid or viscous foodstuff, including a housing with an interior space for a product container for the foodstuff, a heating and cooling device, and a control unit. The product container has a lid with a thermometer probe projecting into the product container, and a transparent wall. The housing has a light source, an optical sensor for registering light entering the product container via the foodstuff, and a measuring device for rheological properties of the foodstuff. The control unit is connected to the thermometer, the heating and cooling device, the light source, the optical sensor and the measuring device, and is designed to set a predetermined time-temperature program in the interior space, and to repeatedly perform measurements on the foodstuff to determine a measured value of said foodstuff, and for storing and/or exporting and/or processing the measured values.

Abstract: A milking system includes a milking device with a milking control, a milk line, and a sampling/analysis device. The milking control controls the milking based on said analysis. The sampling/analysis device includes a reagent carrier, including a tape with a first side with a reagent pad that detects the presence of a substance in the milk sample and a second side, a dosing device to provide a droplet of said sample onto the reagent pad, a source for emitting source radiation onto the reagent pad, and a sensor to detect response radiation emitted by the reagent pad, and to analyse the detected response radiation to indicate the presence or concentration of said substance. The first side faces away from the sensor during analysing by the sensor. By viewing “from below”, the observed reaction in the reagent is cleaner, and suffers less from artefacts, and the camera will stay cleaner.

Abstract: A method is proposed for ascertaining the quality and/or the composition of milk, in particular during a milking operation, in which the fill level of the milk in a chamber is determined. After the fill level of the milk in the chamber has been determined, the milk is irradiated using at least one radiation of a predefined wavelength. The intensity of the reflected radiation is measured. The fill level and the intensity of the reflected radiation represent a value pair. Characteristic values are stored in a memory. A characteristic value is assigned to the ascertained value pair. A statement about the quality and/or the composition of the milk can be made from the characteristic value thus ascertained.
