    摘要: A lubrication system for equipment (e.g. centrifugal pump) employing a rotating shaft and corresponding support bearings is disclosed. The lubrication system includes a lubricant dispenser having a plurality of blades or dispensing members pivotally attached thereto, the dispenser affixed to the shaft for rotation therewith. Centrifugal force created by rotation of the shaft to which the dispensing blades are attached causes the blades to extend radially outward from the shaft center during operation so as to dispense the lubricant throughout a lubricating or misting chamber in order to lubricate the adjacent bearings. The system is also advantageous in that the blades are permitted to pivot or flap downward toward the shaft in either direction so that the dispenser may be more easily inserted into the misting chamber during manufacturing of the device or replacement of the lubricating system. In such a manner, a lubricant dispenser is provided that has an operating outer diameter that slices cleanly through the lubricating fluid to avoid excessive splashing and spraying of the fluid. This also allows the lubricant fluid level in the misting chamber to be lowered if desired so as to reduce heat generation during operation without overly splashing or spraying lubricant.

    摘要: A steam turbine rotor is constructed from a first forging of a first alloy, and a second forging of a second alloy different than the first alloy. For example, one of the alloys is suitable for use in a high temperature environment and the other in a low temperature environment. The forging ends are contoured so as to provide central portions, which may be disc-shaped, and the contoured portions may be in the shape of truncated cones. A first weld, such as a root weld formed by inertia, friction, or electroslag welding, joins the central portions, and the contoured portions are joined by a second weld different than the first weld, such as a submerged arc weld. This allows the rotor forgings to be joined in relatively inexpensive horizontal facilities, and reduces the demands on the welding technology required to obtain a sound root weld.

    摘要: To control the temperature mismatch between the inner and outer bands and covers forming plenums with the inner and outer bands on sides thereof remote from the hot gas path, passages extend from the leading edge of the covers in communication with the hot gases of combustion to the trailing edge of the covers in communication with the hot gas flowpath. A mixing chamber is provided in each passage in communication with compressor discharge air for mixing the hot gases of combustion and compressor discharge air for flow through the passage, thereby heating the cover and minimizing the temperature differential between the inner and outer bands and their respective covers. The passages are particularly useful adjacent the welded or brazed joints between the covers and inner band portions.
