Abstract:
A vacuum pump includes a hollow container that has a vacuum port and internal chamber walls. The vacuum port opens to an exterior of the container and the chamber walls define chambers that are in fluid communication with the vacuum port. There are flexible bladders disposed in the chambers. The flexible bladders include vents that open through the container to the exterior. A plunger in the container includes arms that extend into the chambers such that each of the flexible bladders is situated between one of the arms and one of the chamber walls. The plunger is moveable between a home position and an upstroke position to compress and deflate the flexible bladders via the vents and thereby change the volume of the flexible bladders. The change in the volume draws a vacuum through the vacuum port.

Abstract:
An inflation needle includes a first end for insertion into an inflatable object, a second end for connection to a pump and an elongated member having a conduit for air therethrough and connecting the first end and the second end, where at least a portion of the elongated member includes a flexible portion. The flexible portion may include a flexible bellows.
Abstract:
The present invention involves, in some embodiments, medical systems for pumping fluid using a medical-grade cartridge configured for use in a reusable fluid medical apparatus to move liquids through the cartridge. The cartridge includes a membrane defining a chamber. The system includes a pressure source able to be placed in pneumatic communication with the chamber to adjust gas pressure therein. The system further includes a processor configured to perform a dry integrity test based on adjustment and measurement of fluid pressures in the chamber in which neither side of the member is exposed to liquid during test to determine whether a fluid leak exists through the membrane.
Abstract:
An air compressor includes a motor, an air compression mechanism driven by the motor, a rotation shaft rotatable integrally with a rotor of the motor, a fan rotatable integrally with the rotation shaft, a plurality of air tanks for reserving compressed air generated by the air compression mechanism, and a control unit for controlling the motor. The plurality of air tanks are juxtaposed with each other and arrayed in an array direction. The plurality of air tanks includes an endmost air tank and an adjacent air tank adjacent to the endmost air tank. The control unit is disposed adjacent to and opposite to the adjacent air tank relative to the endmost air tank. The control unit is disposed adjacent to and in confrontation with an outer circumference of the fan.
Abstract:
A compact medical pump includes a linear peristaltic pumping mechanism driven by a motor located within a periphery of a belt of the pumping mechanism. The motor drives a gear set that drives a driving pulley which engages the belt having the rollers. A battery for the pump is positioned adjacent to the gear set. The pump includes a controller and user interface for operating the pumping mechanism as a function of pumping parameters input via the user interface. The controller may sense motor current and determine fluid path characteristics based on the sensed current.
Abstract:
A fan system includes a motor control module external to a motor housing of a fan assembly. The motor control module includes a speed control module. The fan assembly includes a fan and the motor housing. One or more first conductors are configured to connect the motor control module to a motor in the motor housing. One or more second conductors are configured to connect the motor control module to a host device control module. The host device control module is separate from the motor control module and is configured to generate a control signal. The speed control module is configured to control speed of the fan based on the control signal.
Abstract:
A cassette for use with an ophthalmic surgical pump for collecting aspirant fluid and tissue from a patient's eye includes a rigid walled container having an interior volume. At least one tapered alignment slot is formed in a side wall of the container and extends from a back wall towards a front wall. An irrigation and aspiration manifold base is removeably attached to the container. An aspiration path is formed within the container for receiving the aspiration fluid and the tissue from the eye and directing the flow of fluid towards a front half of the container before the fluid and tissue collects within a majority of the interior volume of the container. A fluid level indicator is formed on a wall of the container, such that an associated photo-detector of the pump may determine a level of fluid in the container.
Abstract:
A flow set for administration of liquid when using a liquid pump is disclosed. The flow set of the present invention permits identification of the flow set by a liquid pump that uses this flow set and prevention of pumping tube-segment over stretching.
