    摘要: A control method for controlling a hydraulic actuator to impart oscillatory excitation to a load, the actuator comprising at least one hydraulic chamber and a movable member capable of moving in said chamber between two extreme positions under the action of a liquid under pressure, wherein the method comprises the steps consisting in: determining an operating point for said actuator, which operating point corresponds to a rest position of said movable member; applying a hydraulic command to bring said movable member into correspondence with said rest position; and applying a hydraulic command to cause said movable member to perform reciprocating movement about said rest position, said reciprocating movement being adapted to apply a desired excitation to said load; the rest position of said movable member being selected to be significantly off-center relative to said extreme positions. Advantageously, said rest position is selected to be as close as possible to one of said extreme positions of the movable member, taking account of the movement amplitude required of the piston to impart a desired excitation to said load.

    摘要: A method and apparatus are provided for hydraulic fluid supply between a hydraulic pump and a hydraulic drive unit, switching hydraulic fluid flow direction to the hydraulic drive unit or stopping hydraulic fluid flow to the hydraulic drive unit when measured hydraulic fluid pressure crosses a predetermined pressure threshold value. The method further comprises calculating an amount of mechanical work done by the hydraulic drive unit and warning an operator or limiting hydraulic fluid flow rate to the hydraulic drive unit when the calculated mechanical work for the drive cycle is less than an expected amount of mechanical work. The apparatus for practicing the method further includes a pressure sensor associated with a hydraulic fluid supply conduit between the pump and the drive unit, and an electronic controller programmed to operate the drive system according to the method.

    摘要: A exhaust valve for use in a cryogenic gas expansion system which uses a non-metallic valve seat and a metallic valve disk assembly which is moved into and out of contact with the valve seat to close and open the valve, respectively. The valve disk assembly has a valve disk element, a number of spring elements, and a ring element, all of which are integrally formed from a single metallic sheet. The valve disk element moves with a non-linear, snap action movement which movement is controlled by a cryogenic solenoid. When the disk element is moved out of seated contact with the valve seat and reaches a position just past the point at which the snap action has commenced, the movement is limited by a stop element so that the force, and hence the solenoid current, required to hold the valve open at that position is minimized.

    摘要: In accordance with an illustrative embodiment of the present invention, an expansible chamber device includes a piston movable within a cylinder, a head on the cylinder having intake and exhaust ports, a normally-open intake valve for closing the intake port automatically when the flow rate or velocity of a working medium entering the cylinder reaches a predetermined value, variable restraining means for inhibiting closing of the intake valve in response to flow, an exhaust valve for preventing excape of working medium from the cylinder until cylinder pressure is reduced to a set level, spring means for opening the exhaust valve at that level, and means operable near the top-dead-center position of the piston for automatically opening the intake valve and for closing the exhaust valve to enable the cycle to repeat. A unique system for controlling the variable restraining means, as well as methods for regulating the flow or working medium through said valves, also is disclosed.

    摘要: An overall pump assembly for smoothly pumping a compressable liquid from a supply is disclosed herein along with two intensifiers which form part of the assembly and a control arrangement for driving the intensifiers in specific phase relationship to one another. Each of the intensifiers includes its own reciprocating piston and a control device interconnected in feedback relationship with the piston in order to follow the latter through its movement. In each of the specific intensifiers disclosed, its piston and control device are interconnected by cable means configured to cause the control device to rotate about its own axis in a manner corresponding to the movement of the piston.

    摘要: An electromagnetic fluid pump having a magnetic circuit responsive to a predetermined position of a reciprocating magnetically permeable piston is disclosed. The reciprocating piston closes the magnetic circuit at the end of its pumping stroke increasing the value of the signal produced by a hall effect switch. The increased value of the generated signal energizes a solenoid coil returning the piston to a cocked position against the force of a resilient member which urges the piston forward on its pumping stroke.
