    摘要: A system for reducing congestion on a roadway is provided. Selected lengths of selected normal lanes of a roadway are divided into two commuter lanes, distinctive lane markings identify the commuter lanes, and selected lengths of selected lanes are dynamically designated as either normal lanes or pairs of commuter lanes. In order to dynamically change lane configurations, a set of indicators can be provided as lane markers together with a control system to alter particular lane configurations between normal lanes and commuting lanes both cyclically according to a preprogrammed schedule and dynamically in response to sensed vehicle traffic volume, unusual events such as accidents, weather, and so on.A commuter vehicle is required for use on commuter lanes. A typical commuter vehicle weighs less than 650 lbs., has at least three wheels, an enclosed seating compartment, and a low center of gravity with at least one occupant. Occupants sit in a near-kneeling or recumbent position to provide a low center of gravity. Occupants can be positioned in-line, one behind the other.

The system has a large light-collecting capability and can be made very compact and is especially very suitable for a road marking system.

    摘要: A directional roadway delineator includes an elongate, tubular body having a frontal impact face and a rearward face. The tubular body has a lower section disposable at least partially below a surface of the roadway to secure the delineator below the roadway surface. The tubular body includes an upper section, extending upwardly from the lower section to provide a marker above the roadway surface. A pair of longitudinal slits are formed through opposite sides of the tubular body between the frontal face and rearward face in the lower section of the body to allow the delineator to: elastically flex rearwardly in response to a force applied to the frontal impact face; and return to a substantially vertical orientation upon removal of the applied force.

    摘要: A traffic control assembly for marking roadways or other marking areas is shown generally having a base, a stake, a pin, a collar, and a flexible marker that extends substantially vertically from the base when in a non-impacted and non-deformed state. The pin passes through pin holes in the stake, collar, and marker when the traffic assembly is installed. The traffic control assembly has fewer parts and is thus easier to install and replace. The pin is in contact with the base to provide support to the stake and prevent it from listing when the assembly is struck by a vehicle.

The pavement tape includes at least one symbol that conveys commercial information, and may also include a pressure-activated switch disposed within the tape, such that pressure applied to the switch completes a circuit and triggers light and/or audio features.

    摘要: A street marking strip device formed of a resilient and flexible strip material includes a traffic marking on a visible side thereof and a street engaging underside having longitudinally extending clearances and cavities separated by longitudinally extending contact edge zones for releasably engaging a street surface. The strip material optionally may include longitudinally extending reinforcement elements in the form of strand or sheet material and may include prestressing elements for giving the strip material an overall concave shape when it is in its unloaded condition. When the prestressed strip material engages a street surface, a clawing action results as the strip material is flattened against the street surface. The strip material may be readily released from the street surface and reused again. The strip material includes tapered flanks to ensure smooth traversal by automobiles.

    摘要: A method of marking a curved median with a passive elongated flexible roadway marking device entails bending the device to conform to the curved bullnose shape of a roadway median, adhesively attaching the device to the surface of the median and then mechanically fastening the device to the median. Bending notches with stress relief vertices may be provided in a flange of the spline to facilitate concave bending of that flange. Attachment holes may be provided in flanges of the spline, in an alternating arrangement. Spaced apart retro-reflective tape strips are applied to the curved outer surface of the protrusion.
