    Abstract: A method of marking a curved median with a passive elongated flexible roadway marking device entails bending the device to conform to the curved bullnose shape of a roadway median, adhesively attaching the device to the surface of the median and then mechanically fastening the device to the median. Bending notches with stress relief vertices may be provided in a flange of the spline to facilitate concave bending of that flange. Attachment holes may be provided in flanges of the spline, in an alternating arrangement. Spaced apart retro-reflective tape strips are applied to the curved outer surface of the protrusion.

    Abstract: In some embodiments, a directional surface marking may provide directional messaging to users based on their direction of travel on a base surface, such as a roadway, walkway, or interior flooring, as non-limiting examples. In some aspects, the directional messaging may comprise different colors, text, or symbols, wherein a user may view different directional messaging on a directional surface marking dependent on direction of travel. In some embodiments, directional surface markings may comprise a profile layer, wherein the profile layer may comprise a plurality of profiles, which may provide a topography that allows for directional messaging utilizing surface colors on the topography.

    Abstract: What is needed is an apparatus and system for creating high contrast to heighten marking conspicuousness and heighten driver safety under extreme light conditions. According to the present disclosure, a ridged contrast surface marking may comprise a topography that may allow for consistently visible and conspicuous messaging of proximate base surface markings, which may limit loss of visibility or conspicuity during extreme light conditions. In some aspects, ridged contrast surface markings may be used in conjunction with more traditional contrasting and color techniques, such as with painting, coating, or tape. Ridged contrast surface markings may provide surrounding contrast to flat messaging or other profiled solutions, wherein even if light reflection in extreme light conditions may reduce visibility of the message, sufficient surrounding contrast would still allow for comprehension of the message.
