Abstract:
A vehicle distance advise system includes a first housing section including a first reflective strip and a first warning device connected to the first reflective strip, and a second housing section removably connected to the first housing section. The distance advise system may be connected to a vehicle and then set-up to alert other vehicle drivers of the presence of an immobilized vehicle.
Abstract:
A sleeve for a post that is generally rectangular in horizontal cross-section, may have two or three panels, may have perforation which allow portions of one or more panels to be removed, may incorporate retroreflective materials, may have holes, bushings, and/or adhesive layers to facilitate attaching the sleeve to a post, may have top-bottom and side-to-side connectors to facilitate connecting the top of one sleeve to the bottom of another or the edge of one sleeve to an edge of another, may be accompanied by spacers to allow the sleeve to be connected to posts of different size and geometry.

Abstract:
A marking device includes a frame which supports a reflector member therein for being supported on a stake to be penetrated into the ground, for example for marking driveways. The frame is operable between open and closed positions to readily release the reflector member therefrom. Several frames can be stacked on a common stake by modular interconnection between adjacent frames in which some frame may support reflectors and other frames are suitable for retaining a cable extending therethrough. In this instance when a plurality of marking devices are penetrated into the ground at spaced positions in a row, a common cable, for example an electrical extension cord or a string of lights can be threaded through empty frames in the row to be supported spaced above the ground.
Abstract:
An improved reflective yard sign that allows a user to select their own message and gives a user the option of choosing different interchangeable messages and different interchangeable reflectors. The sign includes at least one interchangeable reflector, at least one interchangeable graphic, and a least one clear lens. Front and back covers are fastened together to retain the reflector, graphic and lens. At least one of the covers includes an aperture through which the lens, graphic, and reflector may be viewed.
Abstract:
Various self-cleaning delineator embodiments incorporate a delineator design that includes a shell portion, a core disposed inside the shell portion, and a reflective sheet coupled to an outer surface of the core. A wind turbine mounted on or in the delineator energizes a mechanical energy storage device, such as a spring, in response to wind or other air movement. A drive mechanism couples to the storage device and is adapted to use energy from the storage device to provide relative rotational motion between the shell portion and the core. A cleaning material disposed on an inner surface of the shell contacts the reflective sheet such that the relative rotational motion between the shell portion and the first core causes the cleaning material to slide across the reflective sheet to remove debris therefrom. The drive mechanism may include an escapement mechanism to limit the rotational motion to a maximum speed.
Abstract:
A plurality of biodegradable stakes for use as trail markers that are coated with a biodegradable coating comprised of an adhesive and a fluorescing compound for inserting into the ground such that the coated surface of the marker is exposed at various distances from each other such that the stakes glow when a source of ultra-violet light is present and thus form a route or trail by which a person can find their way to a point of interest even in low light conditions, while remaining unobtrusive so that one has difficulty seeing the stake without ultraviolet light and unless one is specifically looking for it thereby not detracting from the natural appearance of the location.
Abstract:
A marking device includes a support having a first end engaged with a ground surface, and a second end positioned away from the ground surface. A force transfer structure is connected to the second end of the support, wherein the force transfer structure has a diameter less than a diameter of a middle portion of the support. A cylindrical biasing mechanism attached to the middle portion of the support, wherein the cylindrical biasing mechanism has a first end, a second end and a middle portion, wherein the middle portion has a diameter that exceeds a diameter of the first end and the second end. An elongated rod, attached to the second end of the cylindrical biasing mechanism at a first end.
Abstract:
A Surface Mount Channelizer (40) for absorbing impacts to a marker or sign used for demarking traffic lanes provides means for replacing a flexible shaft without detaching a mounting base from a lane surface. The apparatus comprises an upright marker (10) connected to a mounting base (18, 24), wherein the apparatus has means for providing free movement of marker (10) in any direction relative to mounting base (18, 24). The means for providing free movement comprises a flexible hinge (22), connecting marker (10) to mounting base (18, 24). Marker (10) is preferably comprised of a flexible material, and in combination with flexible hinge (22) is capable of a range of motion from upright to parallel with the ground 360° around said mounting base.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention are directed to reflective markers for traffic-control devices and applications thereof. In one embodiment, a reflective marker comprises a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive adjacent an adhesive-backed sheet. The layer of pressure sensitive adhesive may comply with national, state or local government ordinances related to traffic control buttons, pedestrian crossing features, site accessibility and exterior routes of travel. In one embodiment, the layer of pressure sensitive adhesive may include a first border extending along an upper edge of the layer of pressure sensitive adhesive, a second border extending along a lower edge of the layer of pressure sensitive adhesive, and a center portion located between the inner edges of the first and second borders.
