A method and an arrangement for utilizing condensation water of an apparatus for drying a fibre web. The drying apparatus comprises two endless bands (1, 2) that are impermeable to air and that have a good thermal conductivity. A fibre web (5) runs between the bands (1, 2) with at least one felt or wire (3, 4). The metal band in contact with the fibre web (5) is heated with a pressure chamber (9) containing a pressure medium that is steam. Correspondingly, the metal band in contact with the felt is cooled. Water that has evaporated from the fibre web (5) and then condensed is gathered from the wire (4) and this condensate is made suitable for use in a power station by means of the removal of solid matter, so that the condensate can be utilized.

A method and device for intensifying the operation of a Yankee press in a soft-tissue machine in which a web is pressed in one or several nips formed between a Yankee cylinder and one or more press rolls. The web is dried on the Yankee cylinder by blowing hot air introduced through the Yankee hood against the web. In the method, a blow device is used to blow hot and humid air against the web. The blow air for the blow device is taken from the outlet/heat recovery of the air system of the Yankee hood, and the exhaust air from the blow device is returned to the outlet/heat recovery of the air system of the Yankee hood. Air is blown against the web at the proximity of the nip formed between the Yankee cylinder and the first press roll, before and near the first press nip, in the running direction of the web. The blow device includes a blow chamber, an exhaust chamber, and blow nozzles for blowing hot and humid air against the web and exhaust-air ducts for the removal of the air.

A steam generator assembly, particularly for use in connection with the mechanical preparation of pulp, for generating pure steam required in a subsequent process, such as drying of proper in a paper machine, by utilizing the condensation heat of contaminated steam coming from a preceding process, such as a grinding process, includes a steam converter and electrical boiler arranged in a common housing to form a unified structure. The steam converter utilizes the condensation heat of the contaminated steam to generate pure steam from water supplied to the converter. The electric boiler is connected in parallel to the steam converter and includes electrodes adapted to generate steam when moistened by water supplied to the boiler from a separate water container in the housing. Selective control of the supply of water to the electric boiler and the extent to which the electrodes are moistened regulates the amount of pure steam generated by the electric boiler. The pure steam generated by the steam converter and electric boiler is discharged from the common housing through a steam outlet.

Method and apparatus for recovery of waste heat from thermomechanical pulping systems and the like in which waste heat in the form of steam exhausted from the mechanical pulper and latency chest portions of the thermomechanical pulping system are respectively passed through first and second evaporators which increase the enthalpy of the working liquid. The working fluid outputted from the first evaporator passes through a first compressor to significantly increase both pressure and temperature and further increase enthalpy. The working fluid at the outlet of the first compressor then undergoes desuperheating within an intercooling tank. The liquid phase of the working fluid is passed from said tank to the inputs of both evaporators, while the vapor phase merges with the working fluid outputted from the second evaporator and enters a second compressor to undergo further increases in pressure and temperature. The working fluid emerges from the second compressor and is passed through a condenser where it transfers its heat energy to water passing through the condenser, which water is converted to steam at a pressure well in excess of atmospheric. The working liquid, in giving up its heat energy, is converted into the liquid phase and is passed to the intercooling tank which serves as a means to balance differences in the mass flow rate, temperature, pressure and enthalpy of the working fluids respectively passing through the first and second compressors, thereby allowing the first and second compressors to operate at different temperature and pressure levels although they are driven by a common prime mover. The waste heat recovery system produces extremely useful high pressure, high temperature steam, free of the impurities present in the steam vented by the thermal mechanical pulping system. One of the above-mentioned evaporators may be omitted in applications where waste energy is derived from a single source. The system may be used in conjunction with other systems developing high waste energy such as dryer systems. Other techniques are employed to further enhance the coefficient of performance of the system.

The invention relates to a process and a machine for making a tissue paper web (W) in which the tissue paper web W is passed through an extended nip N formed between an extended nip unit (2) and a Yankee drying cylinder (1) and in which the tissue paper web W is carried on a felt (3) through the extended nip N in such a way that, in the extended nip N, the tissue paper web W contacts the outer surface (4) of the Yankee drying cylinder (1). The web W and the felt (3) are led over a suction roll (5) prior to the extended nip N in such a way that the felt (3) contacts the suction roll (5) and the tissue paper web W is separated from the suction roll (5) by the felt (3). The suction roll (5) has a suction zone (6) over which the felt (3) and the tissue paper web W pass together, and a first hood (7) is arranged opposite the suction roll (5) and partially surrounds the suction roll (5). The first hood (7) has an extension around the suction roll such the first hood (7) covers the entire suction zone (6), and moist hot air is fed from the first hood (7) and sucked through the tissue paper web and the felt (3) by the suction roll (5). The tissue paper web W is directly exposed to the first hood (7) such that the moist hot air reaches the tissue paper web W without passing through a fabric before reaching the tissue paper web W. The Yankee drying cylinder (1) is covered by a second hood (8) which is a Yankee hood which has an air heating and distribution system (9) and hot exhaust air from the second hood (8) is fed through a conduit (10) to the first hood (7) and used to supply the first hood (7) with moist hot air. The moist hot air has a temperature in the range of 130° C.-300° C. and a moisture content of 300 g/kg dry air-1000 g/kg dry air at a rate of 90-130 m3/minute per square meter suction zone area. The moist air is then sucked through the tissue paper web W by the suction roll (5) such that moisture condensates on the tissue paper web W and thereby raises the temperature of the tissue paper web W before the tissue paper web W passes through the extended nip N.

The invention relates to a method and to a device for drying a fibrous web wherein the traveling fibrous web is acted upon by steam and hot, moist air in the region of a preceding drying zone and is then fed to the preceding drying zone of a downstream drying zone comprising a drying cylinder and a hood allocated thereto. Hot air is taken out of the hood allocated to the drying cylinder of the downstream drying zone. To create at least a portion of the steam for the preceding drying zone, condensate and/or fresh water occurring in the drying cylinder of the downstream drying zone is heated by the hot air taken out of the hood by means of a first heat exchanger. Alternatively or additionally for creating at least a portion of the hot, moist air for the preceding drying zone, the hot air taken out of the hood guided through the first heat exchanger is fed to the preceding drying zone.
