    摘要: A drying system contains a dryer unit for a web of goods passing through and eliminates solvents during the drying. The dryer unit has nozzles, which apply a drying gas to both paper web sides. The paper web passes through a first dryer region of the dryer unit and there drying gas is applied onto a first paper web site. A deflection roller is disposed between the first dryer region and a second dryer region. The deflection roller deflects the paper web to a second dryer region, where drying gas nozzles are directed at the second paper web side. Support gas nozzles that are directed at the second paper web side are provided at least in the first dryer region. A support gas is conducted through the nozzle at the second paper web side and has a lower pressure than the drying gas applied to the first paper web side.

    摘要: A computer controlled power saving automatic zoned dryer for a printing press has a dryer head facing the substrate travel path, having a multiplicity of IR lamps connected individually or in groups to form a plurality of heating zones running longitudinally and each extending laterally side by side across the substrate travel path. The radiant heat output of each heating zone is controlled separately by means of a control unit connected to a power supply. The control unit individually regulates output of the heating zones. Unneeded zones are turned off to reduce cost of power and conserve energy. A plurality of heat sensors spaced laterally across the substrate path measure the surface temperature of substrate heated areas corresponding to the heating zones being operated and maintain an automatic set point temperature. The temperature of each individual heated area can be regulated automatically by adjusting the output of its heating zone whereby printed substrates having a more even temperature profile are delivered. In an alternate manual mode any zone can be set independently to operate at any percentage of full available power from zero to 100%. Separate high velocity air scrubbers and additional air extraction are used to enhance the total drying effect of the zoned dryer assembly.

The drying apparatus comprises two endless bands (1, 2) that are impermeable to air and that have a good thermal conductivity. A fibre web (5) runs between the bands (1, 2) with at least one felt or wire (3, 4). The metal band in contact with the fibre web (5) is heated. Correspondingly, the metal band in contact with the felt is cooled with water contained in a water chamber (10). The cooling water used is conducted to a heat exchanger (25) that is used to heat water conducted to heat the process water in a papermaking or a board machine.

    摘要: In a papermaking machine, the drying section includes a vacuum based system which serves to guide the web and supporting felt (15) from a first drying cylinder (11) to a transfer vacuum roller (10), which has perforations (13) through which a vacuum is communicated into the interior of the roller 10 from of an external suction box (14). The suction box (14) includes lengthwise extending sealing strips (28, 29) located adjacent and bounding the free circumferential surface of the transfer roller (10), which is not overlapped by the felt of the drying section. The sealing strips extend from the suction box 14 to the roller mantel (10a) of the roller 10. These strips are further designed in the style of a doctor blade and are flexibly mounted on the suction box (14) so that they are flexible and biased against the roller 10 by spring action. They extend approximately tangentially to the surface of the roller mantel (10a), contacting it gently.

    摘要: A tube for an impinging jet air drier for wood veneer has a circular cross-section throughout 270 degrees of its circumference, the remaining 90 degrees comprising two planar portions, one disposed perpendicularly to the direction of travel of a sheet of material through the drier, the other generally facing the sheet of material but forming an obtuse angle with the first portion at a line of juncture disposed in the downstream direction of sheet travel. A plurality of round holes are punched in the planar portion facing the sheet of material. The holes are disposed in rows parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tube. The shape of the tube serves as a guide for the sheet material while discharging air thereacross. The configuration permits the upper tube in each pair to be disposed about 5/8 inch above the plane of travel of the sheet material and the lower tube to be disposed about 3/8 inch therebelow.
