    Abstract: An apparatus for curing thin films is disclosed. The apparatus includes a computer control system, a conveyance system, a flashlamp controller, and a flashlamp. The curing apparatus also includes a high average power, low-inductance cable connected between the flashlamp controller and the flashlamp. The low-inductance cable is smaller in diameter and is more flexible than the prior art and includes at least one liquid cooling line and multiple forward and return path wires interleaved in a regular hexagonal closed packed configuration such that every wire is adjacent to at least one cooling line and at least one wire of opposite polarity.

    Abstract: A thermal processor for thermally developing an image in an imaging material. The thermal processor includes an oven and a plurality of rollers positioned to form a transport path and, through contact with the imaging material, configured to move the imaging material through the oven along the transport path. Each roller has an initial contact point and a final contact point with the imaging material as the imaging material moves along the transport path. A spacing between the rollers is varied such that a distance between a final contact point and an initial contact point of at least a first pair of rollers along the transport path is different from a distance between a final contact point and an initial contact point of at least a second pair of consecutive rollers along the transport path.

    Abstract: A paper machine dryer group has a plurality of rolls, including a guide roll and a tension roll, and a carrier belt traveling over the rolls and forming a continuous loop. The guide roll can be displaced to a location parallel to its axis as well as at an angle to the direction of movement of the carrier belt. The guide roll and the tension roll are coupled to each other in such a way that, when the guide roll is displaced, the tension roll is simultaneously displaced in such a direction and to such an extent that the carrier belt tension remains at least approximately constant.

    Abstract: The present invention is an air diffuser for distributing conditioned air to air jet spinning machines and the like that includes a tubular outer member formed with openings therein and a tubular inner member disposed within the outer member. The inner tubular member is made of a fabric material that is formed in part with a relatively closed mesh construction and in part with a relatively open mesh construction so that the inner member emits air over a predetermined arcuate flow path through the open mesh part. The inner member directs the predetermined arcuate flow path into the outer member so that part of the conditioned air diffuses directly through the outer member in the predetermined arcuate flow path, the predetermined arcuate flow path preferably being directed towards the spinning machine. The conditioned air is thus delivered to the spinning machine at localized areas and at a low velocity.

    Abstract: A continuous method for shrinkproofing tubular fabric, especially knitted and the like goods, is effected so that the fabric is spread when wet, then compressed lengthwise and then dried in a shrinkproof manner. This method provides for overstretching the fabric more than 130%, preferably even 160%, widthwise, overfeeding the fabric uniformly lengthwise while stretching and spreading the fabric, and immediately thereafter, in a relaxing fashion, drying the fabric continuously and in finished form with brief alternating movements under the influence of heat. During this heat treatment, the shrinkage potential produced is completely eliminated, with the meshes of the fabric moving into a stable position which no longer results in a change during domestic washing or tumble drying. It is important for the economics of the method for the fabric first to be pre-dried to about 20%, and then to be treated as described. The apparatus for working the method includes a spreader, which has a tooth-shaped drive unit for reliable conveyance of the fabric tube to each of two spreader arms.

    Abstract: Three consecutive work zones are provided in a drying apparatus for tubular textile wares, equipped with an expander arranged vertically floating in the interior of the tubular textile material. Zones, in which drying air is blown from the outside into the tube interior, are located upstream an entry ring which expands the tube and downstream of a corresponding exit ring of the expander, which may be circular, for example. In a third, center zone located between the entry ring and the exit ring of the expander, the tubular textile material is exposed to substantially radially outwardly directed suction of the drying air which may cause undesirable deformation of the tubular textile material. A gas-permeable substantially cylindrical jacket is provided in the center zone. This jacket envelopes the tubular textile material which bears against the inner wall of the jacket during the drying, whereby such deformations are avoided or controlled.
