    摘要: A fiber finish composition, a method of formulating the same, a process for treating yarn therewith and yarn so treated are all disclosed. The fiber finish composition, which is applied as an overfinish to the yarn after drawing of the yarn, comprises about 24 to 86.4 weight percent of water, about 10 to 50 weight percent of a stiffener selected from the group consisting of triazines, melamine and urea-formaldehyde resins, about 3 to 20 weight percent of a water soluble lubricant, about 0.4 to 5 weight percent of a catalyst for the stiffener, and about 0.2 to 1 weight percent of a wetting agent. Polyester yarn so treated and woven in the filling direction to form a seat belt stiffens, or reduces the pliability of, the belt to inhibit curling of the belt in the retractor housing.

    摘要: A method for the elimination of circumferential stress cracks that occur during production of spun polyesters is provided. The cracks are eliminated by the use of an organic solvent miscible with the lubricating emulsion applied during the finish operation before draw twisting of the spun polyester. The organic solvent may be kerosene or mineral oil or solutions containing the same.

    摘要: Crease-resistant properties are imparted to wash-and-wear garments by impregnating cellulosic textile fabrics with a solution of a polymeric acetal obtained by reacting formaldehyde and a polyol, together with an acid catalyst, and thereafter drying and forming a garment from the fabric, and pressing the same, the pressed finished garment then being subjected to a prolonged cure which imparts crease resistance to the garment.

These compositions contain surface-active agents, polyester soil release polymers, and a component which dissociates in aqueous solution producing quaternary ammonium cations. The process of laundering hydrophobic fibers in aqueous solutions of these compositions is also disclosed.

    摘要: It has been suggested that certain polyglycol ethers, in particular mixed polyoxyethylated-polyoxypropylated monoethers, are useful as spin finishes in the production of polyester tire yarns. Polyglycol ethers having a relatively low molecular weight of about 300 to 1,000 make the best lubricants; however, their effectiveness is significantly diminished by volatilization loss during high temperature processing of the tire yarn. It has now been found that said volatilization loss is greatly decreased by including in the finish a small percentage of certain antioxidant compounds. The particular antioxidant compound used has been found to be very critical.
