    摘要: A non-woven fabric is provided which includes a three-dimensional array of fibers. The three-dimensional array of fibers includes an array of standing fibers extending perpendicular to a plane of the non-woven fabric and attached to a base substrate, where the base substrate is one or more of an expendable film substrate, a metal base substrate, or a mandrel substrate. Further, the three-dimensional array of fibers includes multiple layers of non-woven parallel fibers running parallel to the plane of the non-woven fiber in between the array of standing fibers in a defined pattern of fiber layer orientations. In implementation, the array of standing fibers are grown to extend from the base substrate using laser-assisted chemical vapor deposition (LCVD).

    摘要: A non-woven fiber article for use in a food, medical, or pharmaceutical production environment including a melt-spun polymer fiber is provided having a cross-section and a length and a detectable particulate present in an amount of 20 to 80 weight percent loadings of metal or 10 to 80 weight percent loadings of radiopaque particles to render the polymer fiber detectable by magnetic or X-ray detection, alone or in combination with a secondary functional particulate distributed with the polymer fiber to render the polymer fiber chemically responsive to a chemical reactant, change in pH or temperature. The detectable particulate and the secondary functional particulate are each independently present in a core, a sheath, or both portions of polymer matrix. A process of detecting a fabric made from such a fiber. The fabric article passes through detector. A signal is collected from the detector indicative of the presence of the fabric article.

    摘要: A composite fabric, suitable for geotextile use, is manufactured by obtaining a web of metal material consisting of a plurality individual strands of metal that are substantially parallel to each other, are substantially unidirectionally oriented, and have not undergone any carding, garneting, lapping, or needle punching processing, and wherein the individual strands of metal have not been cut to any particular length, and obtaining a scrim layer having a porous, open woven configuration. The web of metal material is attached to the scrim layer to form the composite fabric material. The attachment may be by needle punching the web of metal material to the scrim layer.

    摘要: A formaldehyde-free curable composition useful for binding nonwovens comprises(a) a polyacid comprising at least two carboxylic acid groups, anhydride groups, or salts of the polyacid thereof;(b) an active hydrogen compound containing at least two active hydrogen groups selected from the group consisting of hydroxyl, primary amino, secondary amino, and mixtures thereof; and(c) one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of cyanamide, dicyandiamide, 1,2-mono- or di-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl) substituted-3-cyanoguanidines such as ethyl-3-cyanoguanidine, 1,2-diethyl-3-cyanoguanidine, and 1,2-diisopropyl-3-cyanoguanidine, and 1,2-mono- or di-(C.sub.6 -C.sub.12 aryl) substituted-3-cyanoguanidines, such as phenyl-dicyandiamide; and, optionally(d) an accelerator;wherein the ratio of the number of equivalents of said carboxylic acid groups, anhydride groups, or salts thereof to the number of equivalents of said active hydrogen groups is from 1/0.01 to about 1/3, and wherein said carboxylic acid groups, anhydride groups, or salts thereof are neutralized to an extent of less than 35% by weight with a fixed base. The accelerator may be a phosphorus and/or fluoroborate compound.The compositions enable manufacturing flexibility through lower curing temperatures.
