Abstract:
A jacquard fabric for a mattress ticking to be used for a bedding mattress and a method for knitting this jacquard fabric are provided. The method is for producing a jacquard fabric for a mattress ticking using a double-sided needle selection circular knitting machine of a rib gating type by which an arbitrary pattern is created by means of computer-based needle selection on a cylinder side, an arbitrary pattern is also created by means of computer-based needle selection on a dial side, and an arbitrary knitting structure is made in an arbitrary part by combining the pattern obtained on the cylinder side with the pattern obtained on the dial side. As a result of employing an irregular twill pattern as a background knitting structure serving as a base, a stretchable fabric that has a soft texture, a tight knitting structure, and strength similar to that of woven fabric is obtained.

An article of apparel is disclosed that includes a textile with at least one property that changes upon exposure to a physical stimulus. The textile has a modifiable structure formed from one or more yarns that exhibit a dimensional transformation upon exposure to the physical stimulus. The yarns have a first set of dimensions when unexposed to the physical stimulus, and the yarns have a second set of dimensions when exposed to the physical stimulus. The structure of the textile is modified by exposing the textile to the physical stimulus such that the yarns transform from the first set of dimensions to the second set of dimensions and change the property of the textile. Reinforcing structures, incisions, partial incisions, and coatings may also be utilized to enhance the textile structures

The invention concerns the production of deformable hollow reinforcements of revolution by a three-dimensional weaving. In a network of rods 18 held and rotated about a vertical axis 11 by rotary perforated plates 52, 53, 54, there are inserted in oblique crossed directions, i.e. non-radial directions, threads in the form of chain stitch loops produced by a knitting device 32. The chain stitches are downwardly compacted by the lower edge of the plate 52 which is inclined for this purpose.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for closing the toe of a stocking, wherein a closing thread is laid or knitted into the toe end of a tubular mesh, which closing thread passes at least once around the entire periphery of the mesh. The mesh is cast off the needles of a circular knitting machine and the closing thread is then pulled or partially drawn out of the mesh, causing the mesh to be constricted so as to close the toe thereof. The closing thread is then secured, as by being knotted, to prevent same from being pulled back into the mesh.

A double knit fabric of a given gauge (usually fine gauge) is provided with an inlay of a coarser gauge yarn on a knitting machine with two needle beds. One side of the fabric is formed of only relativey fine gauge yarn and the relatively coarser inlay yarn is confined to the other or surface side of the fabric. Selected needles in one of the needle beds are replaced by drive elements. The inlay yarn is laid in by an inlay wheel driven in synchronization with the needle bed by said drive elements.
