    摘要: Zinc ribbon anodes and methods of making the same are provided herein. In some embodiments, the zinc ribbon anode includes a hollow elongated zinc ribbon having a first end, a second end opposite the first end, an outer surface, and an inner surface defining a hollow space extending from the first end to the second end; and an elongated metal core disposed within the hollow space and in contact with the inner surface, wherein a cross-section of the hollow elongated zinc ribbon taken between the first end and the second end and perpendicular to the outer surface is polygonal in shape, and wherein the cross-section has an aspect ratio of at least 1.5:1.

    摘要: In a method for cathodically protecting and/or passivating a metal section in an ionically conductive material such as steel reinforcement in concrete or mortar, an impressed current or sacrificial anode communicates ionic current to the metal section and a storage component of electrical energy which can be a cell, battery or capacitor is provided as a component of the anode. A current limiter is provided which prevents excess current draining the supply. This can be a semi-conductive device such as a transistor or diode is connected in the path from the anode to the metal section to limit the cathodic protection current to a value of the order of 1 milliamp. When a diode or similar device is used the current can be limited to the reverse leakage current of the diode.

    摘要: An autonomous impressed current cathodic protection device utilizes a spiral layout of materials, with a magnesium sheet placed in parallel with a copper sheet, and a foamed material in between as insulation, all placed in a plastic container and solidified after inert fluid material is poured in. At a center of the spiral layout, a magnesium anode core is connected through a wire to the surrounding spiral layout. The device can generate electrical voltage of up to −1.7 volt with increased amperage of up to 500 mA. The presented layout of the materials and components allows for increased flexibility concerning the manufacturing of devices based on the requirements of industrial applications, construction sites, and various needs and demands in marine applications for ships, regardless of size.

    摘要: A cathodic protection system includes a vessel for containing a fluid or a mixture of fluids, a plurality of anodes positioned inside the vessel, an encapsulant encapsulating the plurality of anodes, the encapsulant being a wax repellant material that is sufficiently porous to allow ions to pass therethrough, and an impressed current source electrically connected to each of the anodes and the vessel. The impressed current source produces a continuous high current output, and the vessel acts as a cathode when current is applied from the impressed current source. The anodes are monitored and controlled from outside of the vessel using one or more adjustable resistors, which are installed in a junction box located either inside or outside the vessel. The resistors are configured to adjust the individual anode current output based upon a predetermined cathodic protection criteria.

    摘要: Sacrificial anodes for installing in an ionically conductive medium at an installation site containing metal requiring cathodic protection are formed by locating anode cores in a tray having dividing members defining a row of side by side chambers with each chamber containing a respective one of the anode cores and casting into the receptacle a covering mortar for the anode cores with each anode core receiving a coating at least partly surrounding the anode core with the connecting wire exposed. The mortar is cast to form frangible bridges between each anode and the next. The trays are stacked and transported to the site where the installer separates and individually installs the anodes into the medium.
