摘要: A lubricating oil composition for automobile transmissions including a lubricant base oil, and a liquid random copolymer of ethylene and α-olefin, the liquid random copolymer being produced using a specific catalyst, wherein the lubricating oil composition has a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. of 4.0 to 7.5 mm2/s, and a Brookfield viscosity at −40° C. of 20,000 mPa·s or less, and wherein the lubricant base oil consists of a mineral oil with a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. of 2 to 10 mm2/s, a viscosity index of 105 or more, and a pour point of −10° C. or lower, and/or a synthetic oil with a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. of 1 to 10 mm2/s, a viscosity index of 120 or more, and a pour point of −30° C. or lower.

摘要: A method for improving wear control of a steel surface lubricated with a lubricating oil through the generation of thick tribofilms. The method includes: (i) using as the lubricating oil a formulated oil, the formulated oil having a composition comprising at least one lubricating oil base stock as a major component; and at least one lubricating oil additive, as a minor component; and (ii) forming a tribofilm on the steel surface. In time-step tribofilm formation measurements of the lubricating oil by a mini-traction machine (MTM) at constant slide-to-roll ratio (SRR), the saturation traction coefficient (fs), which correlates to tribofilm thickness on the steel surface, is greater than about 0.11. In the method of this disclosure, elongation of timing chain due to wear of chain link pins is less than about 0.07%, as determined by Ford Chain Wear (FCW) test conducted in accordance with ILSAC GF-6 specification. The lubricating oils are useful in internal combustion engines.

The base oil is a synthetic oil having a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. of 3 mm2/s or more and 10 mm2/s or less, the viscosity index improver is a resin having a number average molecular weight (Mn) of 1,000 or more and 10,000 or less, the mass ratio of boron atoms (B) contained in the boron-containing dispersant to molybdenum atoms (Mo) contained in the molybdenum-based friction modifier, [(B)/(Mo)] is 1 or more and 5 or less, and the mass ratio of sulfur atoms (S) to phosphorus atoms (P) contained in the extreme-pressure additive(s), [(S)/(P)] is 10 or more and 20 or less.

摘要: The present invention provides a working fluid composition for a refrigerating machine containing: a refrigerating machine oil containing, as a base oil, a mixed ester of (A) a complex ester synthesized from a polyhydric alcohol such as neopentyl glycol, a polybasic acid having 6 to 12 carbon atoms, a monohydric alcohol having 4 to 18 carbon atoms and the like, and (B) a polyol ester synthesized from a polyhydric alcohol such as neopentyl glycol and a monocarboxylic fatty acid having 4 to 18 carbon atoms, in a mass ratio of (A) the complex ester/(B) the polyol ester of 5/95 to 95/5; and a refrigerant such as carbon dioxide.

摘要: A viscosity index improver containing, in diluent oil, one or more optionally functionalized linear block copolymers having at least one block derived from alkenyl arene covalently linked to at least one block derived from diene in an amount that is greater than the critical overlap concentration (ch*), in mass %, for the linear block copolymers in the diluent oil; and ester base stock and/or at least one star (or radial) polymer, the star polymer being present in an amount such that the c/ch* value of the star polymer in the concentrate falls within the range of from 0.01 to about 1.6, wherein c is the concentration in mass % of star polymer in the concentrate and ch* is the critical overlap concentration in mass % for the star polymer in the diluent oil used to form the concentrate.
