    摘要: Benzylidene derivatives of the formula: ##STR1## wherein n represents an integer from 1 through 4, R represents an amino radical, a monoalkylamino group containing 1 through 4 carbon atoms in the alkyl radical, a dialkylamino group containing 1 through 4 carbon atoms in each alkyl radical, or when n represents 2, 3 or 4 a group ##STR2## in which m represents 4 or 5, or a group --OM in which M represents an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal, and X.sub.1 X.sub.2, X.sub.3 and X.sub.4 each represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, or an alkyl radical containing 1 through 6 carbon atoms, are new therapeutically useful compounds. They possess antidepressant, anticonvulsant, anxiolytic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, ulcer-inhibiting, gastric antisecretory and antihypertensive properties.

    摘要: Disclosed are benzidine derivatives substituted in each of the 3,3'-positions by the substituent ##STR1## wherein W is hydrogen or an alkali metal, the subscript n is zero when A is the divalent branched chain alkylene having from 2 to about 7 carbon atoms, and n is one when A is straight chain divalent alkylene with 3 or 4 carbons. Also disclosed are the corresponding derivatives wherein the sulfonyl group is replaced by the carbonyl group. Further disclosed are chromogen-reactive indicator compositions having as their chromogen constituent one of the foregoing benzidine derivatives. These compositions (1) are useful to test for a substance for which there exists a specific oxygen-oxidoreductase, such as a sugar, an amino acid, uric acid, and the like, and thus (2) contain also a peroxidase, a hydrogen-peroxide-oxidoreductase, and a specific oxygen-oxidoreductase for the specific material in the testing of which the composition is to be used.

    摘要: A method for removing residual cresidine from impure p-cresidine sulfonic acid which impure p-cresidine sulfonic acid contains from above two parts per billion to about 1500 parts per million of cresidine. The method comprises contacting an aqueous solution of the p-cresidine sulfonic acid with a sufficient quantity of particles of a crosslinked lipophilic porous resin for a sufficient time to reduce the concentration of p-cresidine in the cresidine sulfonic acid to less than 2 parts per billion.
