Abstract:
A conveyor roller tube (1) including a plurality of co-extruded polymer layers (2, 3). The tube (1) includes an inner layer (2) and an outer layer (3), and an optional intermediate layer. The inner layer (2) is formed of a first polymer material. The outer layer (3) is formed of a second polymer material. The outer layer is formed to have high wear properties and is also formed to be of a different color to the adjacent layer (2) thereto so that a visual indication of the wear of the roller tube (1) is provided.
Abstract:
A conveyor drive roller with a replaceable sleeve defining a conveyor drive surface adapted to operatively engage a conveyor belt. The replaceable sleeve may be replaced with another replaceable sleeve defining another conveyor drive surface adapted to operatively engage another conveyor belt. A method of replacing the conveyor drive surface on the conveyor drive roller is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A conveyor system and drive element for same include a chain including a plurality of links that hinge with respect to each other and a plurality of moving elements such as balls that freely move in the links. A drive element drives the chain in a conveying direction and includes an elongated body with a surface that has a plurality of planar facets arranged around the longitudinal axis of the body. The facets extend along the body and engage respective links of the chain as the body is rotated to drive the chain. Relief elements are located in each facet and are configured for receiving the moving elements of the chain links engaging the facets so the links lie generally flat on the facets when the chain is driven. Other versions of the drive element are faceted for driving a chain with links but without relief elements.
Abstract:
A roller for a conveyor system comprises a nonlinear bore hole to facilitate retention of the roller on a roller-receiving portion of a corresponding shaft. A nonlinear bore hole comprises a central cylindrical portion for receiving a roller-receiving portion of the shaft and unaligned slots in communication with the central cylindrical portion to prevent migration of the roller from the roller-receiving portion.
Abstract:
A drying machine for pasty and/or granular substances, which comprises a supporting frame for a plurality of superimposed conveyor belts, the frame being provided with lateral openings for the passage of air, each conveyor belt being supported by a plurality of spaced rollers which are pivoted to the frame, the rollers being surrounded by spacers which are adapted to define, between the rollers and the belt, air passage spaces to optimize the drying of the conveyed substances, each roller being surrounded by a single helical body with spaced turns that define the air passage space between the roller and the belt.
Abstract:
A quick change conveyor roll assembly for metal or glass processing comprising an inner roll shaft having a rigid and elongated cylindrical surface supported and rotationally driven by an associate rotor mean. At least one removable spool having a cylindrical body with a first diameter, a hollow interior therethrough and a collar rigidly adapted at a first end, the collar having a second diameter whereby the second diameter is greater than the first diameter. At least one removable and replaceable insulated roll sleeve being slidably mounted over at least a portion of said removable spool and abutting said collar, the insulated roll sleeve including at least one layer of an insulation material and a securing means operably adjustable to hold said roll sleeve about said removable spool at a second end in a predetermined location on said inner roll shaft.
Abstract:
A non-marking web conveyance roller has a generally irregular surface with a plurality of rounded up features that promotes superior venting of entrained air. The surface finish of the roller, formed by a thermal spray process, prevents the formation of impression and honing defects on the conveyed web.
Abstract:
An insulating roller cover includes a highly desirable combination of features. The cover is free from asbestos and is therefore of more desirable construction for handling and use. For the roller cover, at least substantially ceramic fiber is highly compressed, providing a dense and refractory, elevated temperature resistant insulating cover. The cover may itself serve as a load bearing surface; or may provide a foundation or protective media for annular discs or 10 sleeve members made of various, load bearing materials. These load bearing materials may be unable to resist direct contact with the shaft due to thermal shock or the differences in their respective expansion and contraction rates. Where impregnant is utilized with the highly compressed fiber, such will often comprise a colloidal substituent.
Abstract:
A conveyor roll for conveying heated glass sheets along a conveyor assembly is provided that comprises a fused silica roller having opposing cylindrical ends, a pair of end caps formed from a machinable steel which may be heat resistant for rotatably mounting the ceramic roller within a conveyor assembly, wherein each end cap has a tubular wall for receiving and surrounding one of the cylindrical ends of the roller, and a spring retainer for non-rotatably mounting each of the end caps to the roller. Each spring retainer includes a coil spring formed from flat sided coils helically wound around a cylindrical end of the roller, each of which coils includes bent portions and straight portions for resiliently and frictionally inter-engaging the tubular wall of the cap and the cylindrical end of the roller, respectively, despite the thermal differential expansion that occurs between the tubular wall of the cap and the cylindrical end of the roller as the roll is exposed to elevated temperatures. Each end cap includes a screw thread around its open end that threadedly engages the coils of the retainer spring and axially secures the end cap to its respective cylindrical roller end.
