Abstract:
Pulling rolls (13) for glass ribbons (11) and methods for manufacturing such rolls are provided. The rolls include a shaft (17), a plurality of heat-resistant discs (15) mounted on the shaft in face-to-face contact, and a pair of fittings (25 or 25,31) affixed to the shaft which apply an axial compressive force to the discs. The magnitude of the axial compressive force is adjusted so that the portions (27) of the roll surface (33) which contact the glass ribbon during use have a Shore D hardness at room temperature of between 30 and 55. The rolls achieve a long service life without applying excessive force to the glass ribbon or generating high levels of particulate contamination.
Abstract:
A large-cylinder drying roller is provided with a divided hollow shaft for reasons of production. The divided hollow shaft has hollow-shaft parts which are capable of being inserted at both sides into a construction composed of a cylinder shell and caps connected thereto by a weld seam, and are capable of being thereafter connected to one another and to the caps.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a conveyor roller for conveyor systems for the purpose of conveying containers, pallets and the like, comprising a roller body with a roller axis, the outer peripheral area of which represents a bearing surface for material to be conveyed, and a head element that is inserted with an insertion section into a hollow end of the roller body. The invention further relates to a method for manufacturing such a conveyor roller. In the case of the conveyor roller according to the invention, a holding element is arranged at the insertion section, which holding element has at least one point on the outer circumference thereof, the distance of which in a radial direction from the roller axis is greater than a distance between the roller axis and a point on an inner circumference of the hollow end of the roller body in the same radial direction.
Abstract:
A disc roll includes a plurality of annular disc members each defining a hole and having a peripheral surface; and a rotary shaft fitted into the holes of the annular disc members by insertion, whereby the peripheral surfaces of the disc members serve as a conveying surface of the disc roll. The disc members include an inorganic fiber, mica and a clay having a content of particle components that have a particle size of 5 μm or larger of not higher than 30% by weight based on the weight of the clay.
Abstract:
The chain or belt tensioning roller or winder device is provided with a rolling bearing 14 comprising an inner ring 30, an outer ring 32 and at least one row of rolling elements 34 mounted between the rings, with a pulley 12 overmoulded onto the outer ring and with a fixing screw 18 axially immobilized with respect to the rolling bearing. The device comprises a sleeve 16 overmoulded inside the bore of the inner ring and provided with a through-bore 16d for mounting the fixing screw 18. The sleeve is provided with means of axially retaining the fixing screw 18 inside the through-bore of the sleeve 16.
Abstract:
A power transmission apparatus is disclosed. A pulley is journalled through a ball bearing on the outer periphery of a bearing support portion arranged on a housing, and a metal ring is fitted on the inner periphery of the pulley. The outer ring of the ball bearing is press-fitted into the inner periphery of the metal ring, and a punch is forcibly pushed into a front-side end surface of the ring. In this way, punched holes each having a sectional area progressively increased from the rear to front side are formed, and the portions of the metal ring near to the inner periphery than the punched holes are pushed out and caulked. Thus, caulked portions are formed to fixedly caulk the outer ring.
Abstract:
An infinitely variable transmission comprising a pair of rotary, generally conical, torque-transmitting members, each being mounted for rotation on its geometric axis, the angularity of the axes, one with respect to the other, being variable, the outer surfaces of each member having torque-transmitting needles extending outwardly from the generally conical surface, the needles of one member meshing with the needles of its companion member, the needles being capable of flexing whereby torque may be transmitted through the rotary members without frictional sliding motion at the area of meshing engagement of the needles, the angularity of one member with respect to the other permitting a wide torque-transmitting ratio range.

Abstract:
A pulling roll for glass manufacture comprised of a high-temperature millboard material. The millboard comprises aluminosilicate refractory fiber, silicate, mica, and kaolin clay. A method of manufacturing a pulling roll is disclosed, together with a roll produced by the methods disclosed herein. The method comprises forming a pulling roll and densifying at least a portion of the pulling roll by exposing to the pulling roll to high temperatures.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a drive end of a roller for producing and/or treating a material web, in particular a paper web or paperboard web, the drive end including a hollow-cylinder-shaped roller casing and a drive journal which is connected to the roller casing in order to drive said casing. The drive journal stands in a driven connection to a drive unit or can be switched into such a driven connection. The drive journal has an axial bore in the direction of the axis of rotation of the roller, said bore extending from an outer end face of the drive journal to an inner end face of the drive journal inside the roller casing. Provision is made on the outer end face of the drive journal for a drive flange by way of which a drive torque can be transmitted onto the drive journal. The drive flange has a tensioner or is connected to such a tensioner, which extends through the axial bore of the drive journal and is tensioned against the inner end face such that it tensions the drive flange against the outer end face or tensions it friction-locked and/or form-locked in the region of the outer end face of the drive journal.
