    Abstract: A blow-molded unitary structure includes a panel having first and second panel walls and a generally hollow interior between the first and second panel walls. The structure also includes a plurality of depressions, or at least one ridge, or both the depressions and ridge to enhance the strength of the structure. The plurality of depressions is monolithically formed with the panel, recessing from the second panel wall toward the first panel wall. A depression has a side wall composed of first and second segments. Cross-sectional-wise, the first and second segments have different widths and thus collectively forms a step between the first and second segments. A ridge is also monolithically formed with the panel and includes a section, at which the width of the ridge varies along the height direction of the ridge.

    Abstract: A single sheet unitary molded plastic pallet has nine open top molded plastic leg structures extending to a common floor plane wherein the leg structures are arranged in three columns and three rows and include a center leg structure. The pallet also has connector structures arranged between the leg structures and having corner ribs extending therefrom to the leg structures so as to provide a floor plane which is substantially continuous in all directions, and a load plane which is substantially continuous in all directions. The side surfaces of the connector structures having opening for forklift tangs. The pallet has a continuous peripheral lip which can accept an elasticized load cover.

    Abstract: An assembly (10) is disclosed having a pallet or mobile platform (20), restraining blocks (90), a pallet tray (70) and a cover (60) for supporting, transporting, and displaying goods. The goods, preferably in displays or stacking trays (70) are supported on the pallet's base (21). The pallet (20) includes removable wheels or casters (36) and two parallel rails or guides (33) projecting from the bottom surface (26) and a perimeter wall (22, 23) projecting from the upper surface (25). To the extent a forklift is used, the guides (33) provide a side-exposed space or opening between the wheels (36) permitting insertion of the forklift tines. The cover (60) and pallet tray (70) include side openings (63, 73) to align with the space or openings below the pallet (20) base (21) and between the guides (33) so that forklifts and their tines may be used with the covered assembly (10).

    Abstract: A one-piece pallet for securing and stacking drums thereon may include a tray having downwardly and inwardly tapering peripheral side walls, a top surface having a plurality of raised support surfaces, each shaped to engage a bottom of a container, a plurality of raised dividers, each of said dividers being positioned between adjacent support surfaces and being shaped to engage a side wall of a drum resting on said adjacent support surfaces. The dividers may include inner raised ribs having terminal portions opposite the terminal portions of the outer raised ribs such that a drum resting on any one of said support surfaces is constrained by the terminal portions of the inner and outer raised ribs from lateral movement relative to the tray. Support pedestals extend from a bottom surface of the tray, and the pedestals each include an arcuate groove shaped to engage an upper periphery of a drum that may facilitate stacking of the pallet.

    Abstract: A structurally self supporting shipping package adapted for use with mechanical handling equipment. The package may be embodied as a base or as a unitary carton formed by bending a single sheet of material such as fiberboard. The package includes a horizontal panel elevated by adjacent upward facing rectangular channels. Flaps formed at the ends of the channels engage rails formed along the sides of the panel, to transfer shear stress away from the channels and towards the rails. The rails may be assisted by flaps formed adjacent their connection to the panel. The package may be further strengthened if certain portions are formed by placing multiple thicknesses of material adjacent each other. The structurally self-supporting package allows accommodation of a variety of oddly shaped items. Package assembly may be expedited if the rails are formed in sections.
