A drag control assembly with electric control is used to increase, decrease or set the drag at desired setting by microprocessor control. Touch screen microprocessor interface is the preferred method to enter settings into the system and allow display/control through multiple preexisting marine electronic devices throughout a fishing boat.

An airboat rudder that results in increased turning force on the airboat while also being easily controlled by the airboat driver is disclosed. Airboats can be configured to run on both water and dry ground. Many times, somewhat dry mud and some types of grass are very difficult to run over and will cause an airboat to get stuck. One way of getting an airboat free is to oscillate the one or more airboat rudders from a hard right hand turn to a hard left hand turn. Doing so creates lateral forces on the airboat from both directions at different times causing the back of the airboat to move to the side and slightly forward as well. The airboat rudder disclosed herein increases the amount of lateral force generated on the airboat without increasing the horsepower of the airboat engine, which is highly desirable.

A firing line hoist system comprising a mast is mounted on the hull. A drill floor is provided at a firing line side of the mast, which covers a portion of the moonpool while the firing line extends through an opening in said drill floor. Furthermore marine equipment and drilling equipment for performing auxiliary operations for the drilling or drilling related operations is provided, which equipment is mainly provided in the hull of the vessel below the upper deck. According to the invention, the drill floor is flush with the upper deck.

A boat hull or other marine structure is made by shaping a plastic foam core and covering it with a plastic outer skin glued in place by adhesive, mechanically fastened, or applied in liquid form. Minimal sawcuts to the foam core ease manufacture. Methods for anchoring fittings, masts, pipes and shade canopies are presented. No-sew sails for the boat have corners made of plastic sheet attached using both adhesive and mechanical fastening. Lateral resistance of the hull is provided by telescoping leeboards. A suite of these boats share the same modular masts and sails. Such boat hulls offer light weight, ease of transport, and unswampable buoyancy.

A substantially circular watercraft has a buoyant, generally toroidal hull supporting a rigid deck with an outer periphery in substantial conformance with the perimeter of the hull. The deck has an opening located above the central opening of the hull to permit placement of power means to drive and steer the watercraft. The hull is made of a substantially rigid material and in a preferred embodiment the hull and deck are formed from a molded plastic. The leading edge of the watercraft is equipped with a “Carolina flare” which provides greater ease of movement through the water.

The invention described herein teaches that one drilling barge can be employed in two different areas. The standard drilling practice requires two vessels to perform the same work as one drilling barge invention. Standard drilling rigs require that one unit will drill well locations in water depths of 8′-18′. A second drilling unit must be provided to drill in water depths of 18′-60′. As a result of this invention, water depths of 8′-60′ can be provided by use of the one vessel employing the novel stabilization system. The service area's coverage is increased greatly by use of the invention thereby creating excellent cost reduction and improved drilling procedures in remote and harsh drilling areas. The invention's cost is slightly more than the standard drilling barge however; coverage of the service area can be 500% greater than the standard vessel's coverage.
