摘要： Mandrel for making a coupling which coupling comprises a body of fiber glass reinforced plastic which has a rubber sleeve embedded therein. The rubber sleeve is a one piece unit which includes specially shaped sealing gaskets on either end and has a rubber liner spanning the area between these sealing gaskets. This rubber sleeve is stretched onto a steel and plastic molding mandrel. This stretching places the rubber liner under tension which reduces the cross-sectional area of the liner and compensates for thermal expansion of the liner during curing. The mandrel/sleeve combination is rotated in order to wind a thermosetting resin impregnated fiber glass roving around the outer circumference of the mandrel/sleeve combination, thus embedding the sleeve in the fiber glass reinforced resin matrix. The thermosetting resin is cured at elevated temperatures, hardening into a rigid coupling with the embedded rubber sleeve integral therewith. Thereafter the hardened coupling is stripped from the steel and plastic mandrel and subjected to a further curing and finishing operation.

摘要： A method of cold-forming a thermoplastic sheet to provide a circular container part such as a lid or dish comprising the steps of engaging a sheet of thermoplastic material between opposing concentric die members, drawing the sheet around the circular edge of one of the die members to provide a concentric central portion and a concentric annular depending skirt having a proximal edge adjacent the central portion, an intermediate portion, and a distal free edge, provide an annular void in the die members adjacent the skirt, then moving the free edge toward the proximal edge while holding the proximal edge to buckle the said intermediate portion into the void. In the apparatus, the void has a tapered surface inclining radially outwardly and axially toward the proximal edge to hold the free edge radially inwardly, thereby to permit the intermediate portion to buckle outwardly into the void.

摘要： The hose, which is particularly adapted for use with an electrically-driven vacuum cleaning apparatus, comprises a substantially air-tight, flexible tube which is pneumatically coupled between the vacuum pump and the suction head. The suction hose comprises one or more elongated strips which is or are helically wound into tubular form. In a pair of parallelly placed strips, the strip margin of the first strip is secured to an adjacent margin of the second strip at adjoining convolutions of the strips. Electrical conductors are carried by the strips within helically extending cavities formed at the edges or margins of each of the strips and are a portion of that means which electrically couples the cleaning brush to the electrical power supply.
