Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for producing a bone joining device having a head portion, the method comprising the step of press-molding a (primary) molded article to form a head portion, and a bone joining device having a head portion, wherein the molecular orientation in the (primary) molded article is substantially maintained.
Abstract:
A prestressed concrete article including overlying the ends of the article and having gasket rings between the article and the end walls. A hardenable medium is injected between the jacket and the concrete article and generates a sufficient pressure so as to outwardly bulge the jacket, drawing the end walls together thereby compressing the gaskets.
Abstract:
One end-closed ceramic double wall-structural tubes are disclosed, which each include inner and outer tube members, and plural supporting portions integrating the outer and inner tube members. One end of the outer tube member only is sealed. A process for producing such tubes is also disclosed, which include the steps of extruding a green ceramic double wall-structural tube comprising inner and outer tube members, and a plurality of supporting portions integrating the outer and inner tube members; drying the green ceramic tube; grinding off the inner tube member and the supporting portions in a given depth from an end face of the dried tube, inserting a porous member made of an organic material into the ground-off portion of the tube inside the outer tube member; pouring and depositing a slurry into the tube on an axially outer side of the porous member; and drying and firing the thus one end-sealed ceramic tube. The porous member is shaped to meet an inner periphery of an end portion of the tube to be sealed, and the coefficient of thermal expansion of the slurry is the same as that of the ceramic tube during firing.
Abstract:
A process for the production of articles consisting of ceramic material comprises the steps of: extruding a starting material which is of a plastic consistency and contains clay to form a string having at least one longitudinal channel; drying, firing and cooling the string; passing a gaseous medium, for example air, through said at least one longitudinal channel of the string or sections thereof; and subsequently dividing the string or sections thereof into individual articles. There is also provided an apparatus for carrying out the process.
Abstract:
A machine suitable for use in removing seams from cup handles comprises means in the form of a turntable for carrying a plurality of sponges, viz. four, step-by-step successively through a series of operating stations at two of which smoothing operations are preformed on the handles and at two others of which the sponges are cleaned automatically to avoid such build up of clay material on them as will interfere with the satisfactory operation of the machine. Each sponge of the machine has a passage of suitably profiled cross-section through which each handle is caused to traverse first one way and then the other in the operation of the machine.
Abstract:
Fabrication of a flanged concrete panel includes pouring concrete into a suitably configured mold of elastically deformable material in which reinforcing frame and mesh is appropriately located; partially curing the panel while supporting the mold such that under the weight of the concrete contained therein it deflects in a direction countervailing the normal shrinkage deformation direction. The partially cured panel is removed from the mold and allowed to undergo its normal curing shrinkage deformation to yield a panel having a planar face.
Abstract:
An apparatus for applying a mortar coating and troweling same on the entire circumferential wall, or an part thereof, of enclosed pipes and conduits of varying shape and size. A single drive means conveys the mortar to the distributor head and rotates the distributor head as well as the subsequent troweling assembly. In a preferred embodiment a rotating troweling assembly is replaced by at least one troweling element dragged behind the apparatus moving through the pipe.
