    摘要: A dental implant (105,137,156) has an elongated body (100) having first and second end portions (101,103) and having a root on one end portion (104,115,116) for attaching to a patient's jawbone to replace the root of a removed tooth. The root portion (104,115,116) has an anatomically shaped portion between the end portions of the body for fitting into a jawbone opening below the gum tissue of a patient when the root (104,115,116) is attached to a jawbone. An artificial tooth abutment (103,112 & 113) is formed on the other end of the elongated body for attaching an artificial tooth thereon of the abutment extending above the gum line of a patient. A method of attaching a dental implant (105,137,156) includes the steps of extracting a patient's tooth and selecting the dental implant (105,137,156) of the apparatus and attaching the dental implant root (104,115,116) with the jawbone of a patient with the abutment (103,112,113) extending above the gum tissue of the patient and attaching the artificial tooth to the abutment.

    摘要: An orthodontic buccal tube includes an elongated buccal tube body having a first end weld flange integral with the tube body extending from a first end of the buccal tube body, and a second end weld flange integral with the tube body extending from a second end of the buccal tube body. At least the first end flange has a maximum width greater than the width of the tube body end adjacent the first flange. In one variation, the second end weld flange buccal tube likewise has a maximum width greater than the width of the tube body end adjacent the second flange. The amount of the end flange widening is to a degree sufficient to allow sufficient room for welding without substantial splashing of weld material at the end openings of the tube. The tube preferably has a diameter (or minimum diameter, if not of uniform diameter) of less than about 0.06 inch.

Coordinates of measurement marks MP1, MP2, MP3 on a surface of a lower dental arch model 62 in a coordinate system defined by three reference marks MK1, MK2, MK3 are acquired before and after displacement of the lower dental arch model 62. The coordinates thus acquired are converted into coordinates in a coordinate system defined by reference marks PK1, PK2, PK3 on the basis of a relationship between the reference marks MK1, MK2, MK3 and the reference marks PK1, PK2, PK3. Then, changes in the coordinates after displacement of the lower dental arch model 62 are determined, and a region preliminarily specified in a three-dimensional image displayed on a display 5 is displaced on the basis of the coordinate changes thus determined.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for preventing tooth decay by treating the tooth surface, including the occlusal surface and unexposed surfaces such as subgingival, interproximal, and contact areas, with a laser with a coherent or noncoherent light source are described. This process makes the tooth more resistant to acid and better able to bond fluoride, thus requiring a lower concentration of fluoride. The method allows the treatment to penetrate deeper into the tooth then previously accomplished with other methods and can be used in a dental office or at home.

    摘要: A system and process for thermolytic eradication of bacteria and biofilm in the root canal of a human tooth involve an elongated and flexible optical probe and a laser oscillator that provides the probe with low infrared energy. The optical probe is sufficiently long for insertion into substantially the entire length of the root canal of the tooth. The optical probe causes lateral dispersion of the radiation from the probe throughout the root canal. The radiation is provided at an energy density and for a period of time that are necessary to selectively target bacteria and live biofilm in the dentinal tubules of an entire root canal system, at once, thereby (1) inhibiting creation of a blackbody nullhot tipnull, and (2) inducing laser interstitial thermotherapy (LITT) within the root-canal space.

    摘要: The invention provides for a prefabricated appliance for correcting many types of malocclusions particular useful for young children. The appliance for use for adults is called a mandibular advancement appliance. The appliance engages the front upper teeth of a patient in a box. There are lateral occlusions extending to the back of the appliance, Below the retention box there are two independent from each other and depending inclines which engage to the rear of the front teeth. The inclines are hinged in a friction fit. The appliance can be used by an adult for improved breathing as well as by a child with malocclusions. There is a C-shaped bridge, bridging the two lateral occlusions to thereby form a channel into which the adult's tongue or a child's tongue can extend for a comfortable swallowing fit. The adult's appliance does not exert any tension to the interior of the lower teeth. However, a child's lower teeth are subjected to a programmed light tension to exert a correct muscle tension on the lower teeth and to thereby bring the lower jaw mandibular bone structure forward and upward. As a result the malocclusions of a child's teeth and jaw are being progressivly adjusted over a period of time.
