The first casing (1) is configured to contain or retain the lens (4) and the sensor (6) and to have, in a surface (1j) extending along a main scanning direction, a tilted portion having a length in a sub-scanning direction that decreases toward the object to be read (30).

    摘要: A light guide includes a plurality of boss portions. A round hole portion is provided near the center of a base member for fixing the light guide, and slit portions are provided on both ends thereof. The round hole portion supports one boss portion in both the longitudinal direction and the lateral direction of the light guide. The slit portions support boss portions in the lateral direction of the light guide, but are free in the longitudinal direction of the light guide. That is, the center of the light guide is fixed from both directions, and thus both ends of the light guides can expand away in the longitudinal direction. This cuts the influence of expansion by half.

    摘要: An image reading device includes: a light source which generates light used for reading an image; a light guide prism which extends in a main scanning direction and guides the light from the light source toward an image reading region; a holding unit which is connected to a part of the light guide prism to hold the light guide prism, has a wall surface distant from at least one end surface of the light guide prism at a position facing the end surface of the light guide prism in the main scanning direction, and has a linear expansion coefficient smaller than that of the light guide prism; and an image sensor which photoelectrically converts reflected light from the image reading region and outputs image data corresponding to the read image.

    摘要: An image reading apparatus irradiates a document with light, and reads the document image based on the reflected light and includes a light source which includes a plurality of LEDs, and irradiates the document with light. The apparatus also includes an LED current adjusting unit which sets the amount of current to be supplied to each LED by changing the current amounts from the end portion to the central portion in the main scanning direction of document reading, and a driving circuit which drives the LEDs by the current amounts set by the LED current adjusting unit in correspondence with the LEDs.
