Abstract:
An OPU frame generating device includes a frequency setting unit that sets a frequency corresponding to a bit rate of data which can be stored in a payload area, a parameter calculating unit that calculates a parameter Cm indicating an integer part of the amount of data included in the payload area using the set frequency, a data inserting unit that outputs a timing signal determined by the parameter Cm and inserts data at a position determined by the parameter Cm in the payload area, a data generating unit that generates data in synchronization with the timing signal, and a frame generating unit that generates an OPU frame having the payload area into which the data is inserted.
Abstract:
Disclosed example operations involve provisioning a pool of communication capacity in a network link, the pool of communication capacity including spare capacity; allocating from the spare capacity a reserve service communication capacity requested in a connection setup message associated with a first user, the reserve service communication capacity being available to accommodate an increase of communications associated with a first service connection for the first user; and while the reserve service communication capacity is allocated for the first service connection for the first user, provisioning the reserve service communication capacity to be available for restoration capacity associated with a second service connection for at least a second user.

Abstract:
Used bandwidth counts for each of multiple client streams are maintained. A used bandwidth count for a client stream is increased when data from the client stream is put in a Generic Framing Procedure (GFP) frame onto the GFP path and is decreased once every time period by allocated bandwidth credits value. The used bandwidth count for a client stream is compared with a bandwidth limit before sending data in the client stream in a GFP frame onto the GFP path.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a distributed electrical cross apparatus, and a system and method for the distributed electrical cross apparatus implementing an SNC cascade protection. The apparatus includes a backboard and at least four single-boards integrated with electrical cross units, wherein the single-boards are inserted in the limited number of slots in the backboard, and these single-boards also set line-side service access units, client-side service access units and backboard access units. The present invention has both accessing of line-side services and accessing of client-side services in the same single-board, access and flexible scheduling of various services such as line-side services and client-side services and so on are implemented on the backboard with limited number of slots, and the function of the distributed electrical cross system processing various services is increased in the case of low cost.
Abstract:
A method or system including implementing one or more indicators to specify traffic ordering associated with an optical networking protocol and ordering traffic according to the one or more indicators.
Abstract:
There is provided the multirate communication apparatus including: an interface board to connect with a plurality of lines of different bit rates and processing transmission signals of the lines having a first line capacity; a port to mount a transmission module to transmit and receive the transmission signals; a line identifying unit to identify a line type of the transmission module mounted in the port; a plurality of signal processor to process transmission signals having a second line capacity obtained by dividing the first line capacity by a predetermined number; and a line-configuration controller to control a configuration of lines processed in respective the signal processor, based on an identification result of the line identifying unit; wherein the signal processor processes the transmission signals in accordance with the line type of the transmission module mounted in the port, base on a control by the line-configuration controller.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for the robust implementation and protection of Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) traffic over a Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) Unidirectional Path Switched Ring (UPSR). The traditional SONET bridging function is eliminated for the ATM traffic in favor of a selector function. The selector function occurs at the ingress of the ATM traffic to the UPSR and directs the ATM traffic to its destination via a virtual path over the UPSR. The ATM traffic is protected from both SONET failures and ATM failures by means of an Intra-Ring Communication (IRC) protocol. The IRC protocol governs failure detection and the notification of the SONET nodes on the UPSR of the failure and any protection switch that may be necessary.
Abstract:
An alternative network service replaces long distance and international ISDN service for H.320 video conferencing applications. The network utilizes ATM technology and high-performance international fiber-optic transmission facilities to provide improved support for these applications. The alternative network service includes access through local ISDN service providers using ISDN dial-out and dial-in server devices to provide routing and called address transfer to the local alternative service gateway. The server devices also provide routing for calls using the ISDN long distance service and reroute capability to backup the alternative network service.
