    摘要: Methods and systems are provided for dynamic power switching in current-steering digital-to-analog converters (DACs). A DAC circuit may be configured to apply digital-to-analog conversions based on current steering, and to particularly incorporate use of dynamic power switching during conversions. The DAC circuit may comprise a main section, which may connect a main supply voltage to a main current source. The main section may comprise a positive-side branch and a negative-side branch, which may be configured to steer positive-side and negative-side currents, such as in a differential manner, to effectuate the conversions. The dynamic power switching may be applied, for example, via a secondary section connecting a main current source in the DAC circuit to a secondary supply voltage. The secondary supply voltage may be configured such that it may be less than the main supply voltage used in driving the current steering in the DAC circuit.

A higher-bit current source cell portion includes uniformly weighted higher-bit current source cells to generate an identical constant current. A lower-bit current source cell portion includes a lower-bit current source cells that are weighted to generate 1/two-to-the-power-of-certain-numbers constant currents. A constant current source selection controller includes a lower-bit controller having a scaler that uses clocks scaled down to 1/two-to-the-power-of-certain-numbers to select the lower-bit current source cells, and a higher-bit controller having shift registers and using a signal indicating a carry bit or a borrow bit used in the lower-bit controller to sequentially activate shift outputs of the shift registers, and uses the shift outputs to select the higher-bit current source cells. Constant current outputs of the selected current source cells are added and output so that an output current corresponding to the digital input signal is obtained.

    摘要: A resistor-ladder voltage generator circuit is provided, which controls so that k switches among consecutive (k+1) switches out of a plurality of switches connected to the resistor ladder circuit are simultaneously set to an ON state, and which temporally switches the value of k. This allows voltage waveforms having different slopes to be arbitrarily obtained, ranging from a voltage waveform having a small slope to a voltage waveform having a large slope, thereby improving the resolution of a generated voltage waveform without increasing the numbers of resistors and switches, while A/D conversion time is not increased even if the number of bits is increased. In addition, by using this voltage generator circuit as a ramp generator circuit, and by dynamically switching the slope of the ramp wave, acceleration of an image sensor is achieved.
