    摘要: A method and an apparatus relating to an amplifier (e.g., an operational transconductance amplifier or OTA) are provided. The OTA includes a first node and a second node. The OTA further includes a differential transistor pair for receiving an input. The differential transistor pair is coupled to the first node and the second node. The OTA includes a pair of output nodes for outputting a response to the input. The response at the pair of output nodes includes a first frequency pole. A capacitive element is coupled between the first node and the second node. The response includes a second frequency pole based on the capacitive element. The second frequency pole is at a greater frequency than the first frequency pole.

    摘要: Variable gain amplifier (VGA) circuits and methods implemented in such circuits are disclosed. An example VGA circuit includes a differential transistor pair for receiving a differential input signal. The differential transistor pair, in operation, conducts a substantially constant current over a linear operating range of the variable gain amplifier circuit. The VGA circuit also includes a current source that is coupled with the differential transistor pair. The current source, in operation, provides the substantially constant current to the differential transistor pair. The VGA circuit further includes a variable resistance circuit coupled with the differential transistor pair. In operation, a resistance of the variable resistance circuit is adjusted such that a gain of the variable gain amplifier circuit is adjusted. Further, in operation, the VGA circuit produces a differential output signal, the differential output signal being an amplified version of the differential input signal.

    摘要: An operational amplifier includes a pair of differential input transistors, a pair of cascode transistors and a keep-alive circuit. The pair of differential input transistors is connected together at the source terminals and the gate terminals of the input transistors receive a pair of differential input signals. Each cascode transistor is connected to a respective input transistor to form a cascode. The drain terminals of the pair of cascode transistors provide a pair of differential output signals. The keep-alive circuit is connected to provide first and second bias currents to the source terminals of the pair of cascode transistors. In operation, each of the first and second bias currents is a variable current being a function of a voltage at the source terminal of the respective cascode transistor. The first and second bias currents keep the pair of cascode transistors alive during transient overload conditions.
