    摘要: An apparatus and method for handling special windows in a display comprises a window manager in an operating system that is called by application programs to create special windows. The window manager embeds static key signals including encoded special window information, such as the coordinates of a window area to be specially processed, into a video RAM. An existing video interface scans the video RAM and transmits display information, including the key signals, to the display. The present invention further comprises a window decoder in the display, that detects the key signals, extracts the encoded special window information, and controls display circuitry performing the desired special processing. The key signal encoding scheme does not create visually discernible display aberrations that could distract the user or interfere with normal window management.

    摘要: Picture processing apparatus has a pixel judgment circuit and a pixel correction circuit. The pixel judgment circuit includes a target pixel detection circuit for detecting a target pixel having a peak level from the input picture signal, and an edge detection circuit for detecting edges, each present at a distance of n pixels (n≧1) preceding and succeeding the target pixel. Further, the pixel correction circuit has a correction coefficient selection circuit, wherein a peak level correction coefficient is selected according to an output from the target pixel detection circuit, and an edge correction coefficient is selected according to an edge detection output. With the picture processing apparatus, a level of the target pixel is corrected and an edge of the input picture signal is corrected with the pixels of the input picture signal being corrected according to the peak level correction coefficient and the edge correction coefficient.

Power reduction means reduces, in a plurality of modes, the power supplied to device components included in the display device. Power management output selecting means sets any of the plurality of modes on the basis of a selection made by an operator. Signal detecting means monitors horizontal and vertical synchronizing signals sent from a computer and detects as a trigger signal a state in which at least one of them is not being received. In response to the trigger signal being detected, power management signal output means gives an instruction to the power reduction means to perform the set mode.

    摘要: A system for enhancing brightness and resolution while correcting certain types of convergence, geometry, color and luminance errors caused by the display device, the viewing position or both. This system involves merging images from two or more sources, overlapping and offsetting pixels, or overlapping scanning lines nullmerged rasternull in a CRT or several (3) nullmerged rastersnull in color CRT's, and adjusting video content and timing, to compensate for the current viewing position and/or device distortion. Display and/or viewing perspective distortion characteristics are measured from the observers viewing position for the raster or each non-converged raster and stored as correction factor data in non-volatile memory. This data is used to modify the digital addressing of video image memory, to read and to correct pixel data for each image, adjust color, modify magnitude, and to drive the displays video amplifier at the correct time with the corrected amplitude and image data. Making these changes within the video path provides substantial improvements in image quality and in cost savings.

    摘要: An alternate display content controller provides a technique for controlling a video display separately from and in addition to the content displayed on the operating system display surface. Where the display is a computer monitor, the alternate display content controller interacts with the computer utility operating system and hardware drivers to control allocation of display space and create and control one or more parallel graphical user interfaces adjacent the operating system desktop. An alternate display content controller may be incorporated in either hardware or software. As software, an alternate display content controller may be an application running on the computer operating system, or may include an operating system kernel of varying complexity ranging from dependent on the utility operating system for hardware system services to a parallel system independent of the utility operating system and capable of supporting dedicated applications. The alternate display content controller may also include content and operating software delivered over the internet or any other LAN. The alternate display content controller may also be included in a television decoder/settop box to permit two or more parallel graphical user interfaces to be displayed simultaneously.

    摘要: A monitor provides analog conditioning circuitry for supplying a symmetrical high speed analog output signal generated from inverted and non-inverted digital data to imagers for a display of the monitor. The circuitry includes an upper bias amplifier for generating a precision upper DC offset signal. a lower bias amplifier for generating a precision lower DC offset signal, a switch for alternating selection of a precision DC offset signal with each frame, and a summing amplifier for adding the selected precision DC offset signal to a high speed analog signal provided by a digital-to-analog converter. Selection of the precision DC offset signal is controlled by an inversion signal provided to the switch from an inversion bit of a display controller. The digital data inversion is controlled by inversion circuitry within the display controller. The analog conditioning circuitry thus provides a single gain path and also provides low speed signal paths decoupled from a high speed signal path.
