摘要: In a general aspect, orientation information is used to generate a unique code. In some aspects, orientation information is extracted from an object. The object includes multiple elements, and the orientation information indicates the relative spatial orientations of the respective elements. The orientation information can be extracted, for instance, by a scanner system that detects the elements. A unique code is generated for the object based on the orientation information. In some examples, the elements are diamond particles that each have one or more color centers, and the orientation information is extracted by detecting the color centers.

摘要: Methods and systems for verifying authenticity of a physical object and/or for verifying possession of the object by an individual are described. In one embodiment, the object is registered with a remote processing system. Data representing at least one characteristic of the object is obtained and stored in the remote system and the identity of the individual or entity possessing the object is authenticated. After authenticating the individual, an identifier is collocated (or an existing mechanism is activated or modified to replicate the identifier) with the object, where the identifier uniquely identifies the object and the individual possessing the object. The object and the identity of the individual possessing the object can be authenticated at a future time by sensing the collocated identifier and sending the sensed identifier to the remote system. The remote system can send instructions to an entity wishing to authenticate the object and its association with the individual possessing the object. The instructions can be set up at the time the object is registered in the remote system. The remote system can perform an interactive or automated session with the entity wishing to authenticate the object, thereby saving time and providing a robust method of authentication and means for carrying out additional processing functions.

摘要: The invention relates to tracer particles for product identification and/or authentication. When incorporated into a manufactured item, that item can be subsequently authenticated by detecting the tracer particle. The tracer particles of the invention are etched with markings, and in some embodiments, are manufactured with materials that are generally recognized as safe (GRAS). The particles can be analyzed qualitatively or quantitatively. In other aspects, the invention provides methods for the manufacture of the tracer particles, and in other aspects, provides methods for using the particles. Examples of products that can be tagged using the tracer particles of the invention include pharmaceuticals, animal feeds or feed supplements, baby formula powder and liquid bulk materials. Other applications include forensics, such as in explosive materials.

The miniaturized counterfeit detector comprises one or more sensors for magnetic ink testing. One or more backlights, illuminators or both may be provided for visual inspection of watermarks, florescent or other anti-counterfeiting features. The miniaturized counterfeit detector may be fastened to a surface and does not obstruct manipulation of currency to improve testing speed, especially when a number of currency items, such as banknotes or bills, are being tested.

The control unit controls the first-type stacking unit and the second-type stacking unit to sort and stack the paper sheet.
