Furthermore, the stacker has a first mode in which the paddle stops in a state in which the feeding portion does not contact the medium on the medium stacking portion and a second mode in which the paddle stops in a state in which the feeding portion comes into contact with the medium on the medium stacking portion and is deformed.

Abstract: A stacking unit includes a processing tray, an alignment section, a transport section, and a moving section. The processing tray has a placement area in which one or more paper sheets are placed. The alignment section aligns leading edges of the paper sheets. The transport section transports the paper sheets to the alignment section. The moving section moves the paper sheets in ±X directions. The alignment section includes: a first alignment surface having a first friction coefficient; and a second alignment surface having a second friction coefficient. Abstract: A sheet stacking device includes a sheet outlet, a lower discharge roller, and a paddle member. The paddle member is disposed coaxially to a rotation shaft of the lower discharge roller, and is driven to rotate independently of the lower discharge roller in the same direction as the lower discharge roller, so as to contact downward an upstream part in a discharging direction of a sheet discharged through the sheet outlet. The paddle member includes a base part in which the rotation shaft is inserted, an arm part protruding in a direction separating from an axis center of the base part, and a paddle elastic part protruding from the arm part. A rotation speed of the paddle member is the same as a rotation speed of a discharge roller pair when the sheet passes through a nip of the discharge roller pair.
