摘要: A system comprises a combination of digital fingerprint authentication techniques, processes, programs, and hardware to facilitate highly reliable authentication of a wide variety of composite physical objects. “Composite” in this case means that there are distinct regions of the object that must be authenticating individually and in tandem to authenticate the entire object. Preferably, a template is stored that defines for a class of objects what regions must be found, their locations, optionally semantic content of the regions, and other criteria. digital fingerprinting is utilized to locate and attempt to match candidate regions by querying a database of reference object records.

摘要: Existing currency validation (CVAL) devices, systems, and methods are too slow, costly, intrusive, and/or bulky to be routinely used in common transaction locations (e.g., at checkout, at an automatic teller machine, etc.). Presented herein are devices, systems, and methods to facilitate optical validation of documents, merchandise, or currency at common transaction locations and to do so in an obtrusive and convenient way. More specifically, the present invention embraces a validation device that may be used alone or integrated within a larger system (e.g., point of sale system, kiosk, etc.). The present invention also embraces methods for currency validation using the validation device, as well as methods for improving the quality and consistency of data captured by the validation device for validation.

摘要: Method to authenticate a substrate based on unique microstructure inherent to a region of interest of a substrate surface of the substrate, comprising the steps: (a) emitting photons from a light source onto the region of interest; (b) emitting ultrasound waves from a ultrasound source onto the region of interest; (c) capturing at least one image of the region of interest in one or both of the following two ways: (i) capturing a light image in the presence of ultrasound to obtain at least one captured image of the region of interest, or (ii) capturing an ultrasound echo image in the presence of IR or near IR light to obtain at least one captured image of the region of interest; and (d) comparing the at least one captured image with at least one reference in order to determine authenticity of the substrate.

摘要: In some implementations, a system is capable of generating identifications that include distinctive line patterns corresponding to different portions of secure customer information. Data indicating an input image, and a dithering matrix representing a two-dimensional array of pixel values is obtained. Pixel values of pixels included in the input image are transformed using the dithering matrix. For each pixel within the input image, the transformation includes identifying a particular pixel value within the dithering matrix that represents a particular pixel within the input image, and adjusting an intensity value of the particular pixel based on attributes of the dithering matrix. A transformed image is generated based on the transformation and then provided for output.

摘要: A method of integrating a mark in a document. A frame to be printed is selected. At least one color of the selected frame is selected. A color density for each selected color for the selected frame is determined. A digital code is selected for each selected color. After printing, the digital code includes the density of the color. and is integrated into the frame of the corresponding color. The frame including the digital code is printed. Preferably, the digital code is a digital anti-copy mark designed to form, following the printing step, a printed anti-copy mark with an error rate of more than five percent.
