Abstract: According to an aspect, a touch panel includes, in sequence: a stretchable array substrate, a touch detection electrode; and a resin plate. The resin plate has: a facing surface facing the touch detection electrode; and a detection surface facing opposite to the facing surface. The facing surface or the detection surface has a recessed surface. The recessed surface is provided with a high permittivity layer having permittivity higher than permittivity of the resin plate. The touch detection electrode and the high permittivity layer overlap when viewed in a stacking direction in which the stretchable array substrate, the touch detection electrode, and the resin plate are stacked.

Abstract: A method performed by a device (e.g., touch controller) includes deriving a pen position, and transmitting a report indicating the derived pen position to a host computer. The report includes a first area storing position data indicating the derived position and a second area storing non-position data different from the position data. The method includes securing a buffer area for retaining a plurality of the reports in a memory, deriving the pen position at each determined scanning time, and generating a report including the position data indicating the derived position. The method includes storing the report in the buffer area and, in response to obtaining the non-position data, writing the non-position data in the second area of each of one or more of the reports stored in the buffer area. The method includes transmitting the plurality of the reports stored in the buffer area to the host computer.

Abstract: A sensor device includes a sensor array including a plurality of sensor nodes, signal lines electrically connected to the plurality of sensor nodes, and a sensor driver configured to sense a user's touch of the sensor array by selecting the plurality of sensor nodes through the signal lines, apply a first pulse signal having a same phase as a target pulse signal of a selected sensor node to at least one first sensor node adjacent to the selected sensor node among the plurality of sensor nodes, and apply a second pulse signal having a phase opposite to that of the first pulse signal to at least one second sensor node among the plurality of sensor nodes. The sensor driver sets at least one sensor node adjacent to or spaced apart from the first sensor node as the second sensor node according to a preset mode.

Abstract: A stylus capable of bidirectionally communicating with a sensor controller includes a receiver that receives an uplink signal sent by the sensor controller, a controller that determines whether a signal having a predetermined waveform is to be continuously sent over a second time period or to be continuously sent over a first time period longer than the second time period, on the basis of the uplink signal, and a transmitter that continuously sends the signal having the predetermined waveform over the first time period or the second time period on the basis of the result of determination by the controller. As a result, the sensor controller can detect a burst signal from the stylus over a wide range in a sensor touch surface, to thereby reduce the possibility that the sensor controller may fail to detect the burst signal.

Abstract: Provided is a system for a touch pad used by both a finger and a pen to input operations to a computer. The system includes a sensor electrode group, an integrated circuit, and a memory storing a device driver. The sensor electrode group is configured to be placed over a touch surface that is different from a display surface of the computer. The integrated circuit uses the sensor electrode group to detect a touch position on the touch surface where the finger is in contact and a pen position on the touch surface where the pen is in contact and supplies the detected touch position and pen position to the device driver. The device driver is configured to convert the touch position into relative coordinates when the device driver receives the touch position, and convert the pen position into absolute coordinates when the device driver receives the pen position.
