Abstract: A device receives document information associated with a document, and receives a request to identify insights in the document information. The device performs, based on the request, natural language processing on the document information to identify words, phrases, and sentences in the document information, and utilizes a first machine learning model with the words, the phrases, and the sentences to identify information indicating abstract insights, concrete insights, and non-insights in the document. The device utilizes a second machine learning model to match the abstract insights with particular concrete insights that are different than the concrete insights, and utilizes a third machine learning model to determine particular insights based on the non-insights. The device generates an insight document that includes the concrete insights, the abstract insights matched with the particular concrete insights, and the particular insights determined based on the non-insights.

Abstract: A scenario passage pair recognizer includes: a text passage searching unit searching a set of text passages each including no more than a certain number of sentences of a document, and within which all noun phrases included in a scenario candidate co-occur; a feature extracting unit extracting a feature from each combination of the scenario candidate and each searched support passage; a classifier outputting a score indicating reliability of the scenario candidate based on the support passage as a source of the feature; and a score accumulating unit and a maximum value selecting unit, accumulating the scores output from the classifier and selecting the maximum value as the reliability of the scenario candidate. The scenario classifier determines plausibility of the scenario candidate as a causality based on the feature including the score output from the scenario passage pair recognizer.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus consistent with the invention provide the ability to organize and build understandings of machine data generated by a variety of information-processing environments. Machine data is a product of information-processing systems (e.g., activity logs, configuration files, messages, database records) and represents the evidence of particular events that have taken place and been recorded in raw data format. In one embodiment, machine data is turned into a machine data web by organizing machine data into events and then linking events together.

Abstract: A medical information retrieval system comprises a natural language processing system that processes a vocal user query to identify key words and phrases. These key words and phrases are provided to an inferencing engine that provides a set of knowledge-based inferences from medical knowledge sources, based on these key words and phrases. Thereafter, these knowledge-based inferences are provided to an information retrieval engine that retrieves a corresponding plurality of medical articles based on these knowledge-based inferences, and ranks each with respect to the knowledge-based inferences. A summary engine receives the ranked articles and creates a model based on the topical keywords and candidate sentences found in the highly ranked articles. A paraphrase engine processes the candidate sentences to provide a summary response based on a knowledge-based paraphrase model. An audio output device renders the summary report as the response to the user's original vocal query.

Abstract: Contemporary human-computer interactions include conversational interactions, wherein devices present conversational prompts (e.g., generated speech) and conversational responses to user inquiries (e.g., verbal user input). Presented herein are techniques for automatically assembling conversational representations of web content. A variety of automated assembly techniques are disclosed, such as conversational template for websites of various website types. Interactions of users with a website may be monitored to identify actions that the users frequently perform, and conversational interactions may be generated that correspond to the actions. A web service may present a set of requests, and conversational interactions may be assembled to match the respective requests and responses of the web service. Conversational interactions may include transitions between websites, and conversational representations may be merged to integrate content from multiple websites. Action sets of actions and associated conversational representations may be compiled to provide a conversational interaction that aggregates the capabilities of many websites.

Abstract: A method and system for determining a location of origin and a time period in which a document was written is disclosed. A text is received and a set of linguistic characteristics for the text are identified. A set of possible locations and time periods for the text are determined based on the set of linguistic characteristics. A set of reference documents are used to determine a proximity rating for the text based upon a determination of how close the text is to the reference documents. The potential locations and time periods are ranked and returned for presentation.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for mining general text content, a server, and a storage medium, are disclosed. A specific embodiment of the method can include: acquiring a question including a target subject and a target characteristic; and inputting the target subject, the target characteristic and a target text into a pre-constructed answer prediction model, and determining a starting position and an ending position of an answer to the question in the target text by the answer prediction model. The answer prediction model is pre-trained based on a sample question including a sample subject and a sample characteristic, and a starting position and an ending position of a sample answer in a text. In the technical solution provided by the embodiments of the present disclosure, the starting position and the ending position of the answer in the target text may be correctly predicted, thereby increasing the accuracy of answer recognition.
