    摘要: The invention relates to a method for determining a wheel load (WL) acting on a tire (1) of a vehicle, comprising: a) determining a footprint (L) of the tire (1), b) receiving a tire information (ti) that identifies a type of the tire (1) and/or characterizes physical properties of the tire (1) as such, c) receiving tire operation conditions (toe) based on a measurement, d) selecting one of a plurality of predetermined calculation models (mod(ti)) based on the received tire information (ti), wherein each of the predetermined calculation models (mod(ti)) defines the wheel load (WL) as a function of the footprint (L) and the tire operation conditions (toe) for a respective tire type and/or respective physical properties of the tire (1) as such, e) calculating the wheel load (WL) based on the determined footprint (L) and the received tire operation conditions (toe), using the selected calculation model (mod(ti)). Further, a corresponding system (10) for determining a wheel load (WL) is proposed. Advantageously, the invention can be employed very universally and can deal with the problem of varying tire characteristics.

    摘要: A vehicle wheel balancer system having a processing system and a spindle shaft upon which a vehicle wheel assembly is mounted for measurement of imbalance characteristics and forces. The processing system is configured with software instructions to evaluate the remaining imbalance present in a vehicle wheel assembly following the application of imbalance correction weights, and to determine if the remaining imbalance is the result of the vehicle wheel assembly having deviated from an expected rotational position during the time between the measurement of the imbalance and the application of the imbalance correction weights. In the event of such a deviation, the processing system is further configured to provide the operator with a suitable warning to evaluate and correct the mounting of the vehicle wheel assembly before proceeding to rebalance or re-measure the vehicle wheel assembly.

    摘要: A machine for balancing vehicle wheels, such wheels including a rim with a pair of axially spaced, ring-shaped or annular, flanges, and a tire seated up on the rim. The machine includes a frame with motor driven devices for gripping the vehicle wheel to be balanced and rotating same about a horizontal axis. A mechanical feeler, or probe, determines the position of the first of the pair of , flanges on the rim. A contact-less, or remotely spaced, sensor, such as a laser, ascertains the profile of the tire by taking a series of discrete measurements without touching the tire. The mechanical feeler, or probe, and the contact-less sensor, are connected to a control unit in the machine. The control unit interpolates the values provided by the mechanical feeler and the contact-less sensor, and determines the location of the second flange on the wheel rim. The control unit may include an archive, or database, of the dimensions of known rims, to facilitate the accurate determination of the location of the second flange, on the wheel rim.

    摘要: A balance material is applied to the inner surface of a tire at one or more selected locations to offset an imbalance of the tire. The balance material is fluently applied to the inner surface at a first viscosity, whereafter the balance material transforms to exhibit a second viscosity that is higher than the first viscosity and remains affixed to the inner surface of the tire at the point of application. A method of balancing a tire comprises determining the location and amount of balance material needed to correct an imbalance of the tire, applying the balance material at a first viscosity, and transforming the balance material to have a second viscosity sufficient to maintain the balance material at the desired location.
