    摘要: An effector launch system includes a stowable effector launcher housing having a housing panel configured for coupling with a vehicle, and one or more receptacle brackets movably coupled with the housing panel. The one or more receptacle brackets include one or more effector launcher sockets. The launch system further includes one or more effector launchers. Each effector launcher includes an effector received within an adapter housing. The stowable effector launcher housing is movable between deployed and stowed configurations. In the deployed configuration the one or more receptacle brackets extend from the housing panel and the one or more effector launchers are received within the one or more effector launcher sockets. In the stowed configuration the one or more effector launchers are removed from the one or more effector launcher sockets and the one or more receptacle brackets are stowed along the housing panel.

    摘要: A toy system for launching a soft dart projectile. The dart projectile has a flexible shaft. A pneumatic launcher is used to launch the dart projectile. The pneumatic launcher contains an air pulse generating system that displaces air through a flexible barrel. The flexible barrel defines an internal conduit that extends between a first end and a second end. The second end of the flexible barrel is sized to receive the shaft of the dart projectile. The flexible barrel is fabricated from a flexible closed-cell foam that enables said flexible barrel to bend at least ninety degrees without blocking airflow through its internal conduit. As a result, the toy pneumatic launcher can be directed in a first direction, while the barrel is bent to fire in a second direction. The flexible barrel has features that prevent the dart projectile from binding in the barrel when the barrel is bent.

    摘要: A method of winding fibers on a mandrel, the wound fibers being in tension, includes providing a source of fibers, imposing a torque on the source that resists dispensing the fibers from the source to exert a tension on the fibers, adding ultra-violet sensitive material that is polymerized by exposure to ultra-violet light to a resin matrix, impregnating dispensed fibers with the additive containing resin matrix, rotating a mandrel to wind the impregnated fibers on the mandrel, the rotation of the mandrel acting to overcome the torque on the source and putting the fibers in tension, and in situ, quasi instantaneously polymerizing the additive containing resin matrix on the mandrel by means of exposing the additive containing resin matrix to ultra-violet light for a selected period of time, such polymerization acting to lock in the tension in the fibers at the time of polymerization. A rail gun fabricated by means of the above method is further included.

The metal forming process may include radial forging, rotary swaging, pilgering and/or flowforming. A gun barrel includes a tubular component made of a cobalt-based superalloy material. The component has at least about 25% by weight of hcp phase with basal planes radially oriented perpendicular to an inner diameter of the component.
