1,120,691. Refrigerating. WORTHINGTON CORP. 31 Jan., 1966 [13 April, 1965], No. 4255/66. Heading F4H. In an absorption system using lithium bromide as absorbent and water as refrigerant, the generator is heated by low pressure steam which is passed from a steam header 110 through a tube bundle 44 in the generator to a condensate header 118 from which condensate makes a pass 44a through solution in the generator to cool the condensate to a temperature at which it will not flash on discharge to atmosphere. As illustrated, condensate from the pass 44a passes to a portion of the steam header formed by a partition 112 for discharge at 120. Baffles 104 in the generator cause solution to follow a sinuous path over the tube bundle from an inlet (38) to an outlet (46), Figs. 1 and 3 (not shown). In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), condensate from the partitioned portion of the steam header makes a second pass to a partitioned portion of the condensate header before discharge, and starshaped inserts (126) are included in the condensate passes (44b) to inhibit passage of steam. Operating temperatures and pressures are disclosed.

The invention relates to a power station comprising at least one steam turbine and/or gas turbine which is connected to at least one absorption type refrigeration machine in order to produce refrigeration, whereby the absorption type refrigeration machine is operated by means of steam which is taken from the steam turbine, or by means of waste heat produced by the gas turbine.

A waste heat source (100) is used to heat a high temperature heat transfer fluid which is used to heat an absorption heat transfer machine (10) having a generator (20), an absorber (30), a condenser (40), and an evaporator (50) operatively connected together. The high temperature heat transfer fluid can also be used to heat a load (190) such as a room space or a process. The waste heat source (100) can also be used to heat an intermediate heat transfer fluid, which can be used to heat a second load (175) such as a space, a process, or an absorption heat transfer machine. Novel flow control devices (70, 60) for controlling the flow of weak solution from generator (20) to absorber (30) or of refrigerant from condenser (40) to evaporator (50), respectively, are also described.

A solar powered intermittent absorption refrigeration system utilizes helical coil heat exchangers for generation, absorption, dephlegmation, condensation and heat recovery. The thermo-siphon effect is used to supply and reject heat from the system, to recover and utilize heat from a waste energy unit, to reject heat of absorption, and to pressurize and depressurize the system. The system produces ice blocks during the nighttime without any requirement of electrical energy for the operation of the system.

An absorption refrigerator includes an evaporator having an evaporating heat exchanger pipe operable to evaporate refrigerant on an outer surface thereof so as to cool liquid to be cooled running in the pipe, an absorber containing absorbent liquid for absorbing the refrigerant evaporated at the evaporator, a regenerator for heating and concentrating the absorbent liquid supplied from the absorber by using heat source fluid and then supplying the concentrated absorbent liquid to the absorber, a condenser for condensing steam or vapor of refrigerant supplied from the regenerator and supplying the condensed refrigerant to the evaporator and an evaporator for evaporating the condensed water condensed at the condenser. The absorption refrigerator further includes absorbent liquid supplying means for supplying the absorbent liquid to the refrigerant present at the evaporator and refrigerant discharging means for discharging the refrigerant present at the evaporator to the regenerator.

摘要:
An absorption apparatus includes a generator with an integrated outlet box comprising a liquid sensing chamber and a solution outlet chamber. The sensing chamber has an opening into the generator, with the opening being sized according to the liquid surface area inside the sensing chamber. The outlet chamber has a larger opening into the generator to provide a more open flow path for solution to exit the generator through the outlet chamber. The more restricted opening in the sensing chamber allows a liquid level sensor therein to sense a relatively calm liquid level that tends to be at an average elevation of a boiling-disrupted liquid level in the generator. With the opening in the sensing chamber being appropriately sized, a variable speed pump, responsive to the liquid level sensor, controls the flow of solution into the generator to maintain a desired solution liquid level in the generator.

A generator for an absorption chiller boils an absorption solution with steam heat by conveying the steam through a tube bundle with the steam flowing counter to the flow of solution. The tube bundle runs downhill in the direction of steam flow, while in some embodiments of the invention a bottom surface of the generator runs uphill in the direction of solution flow. The amount of solution in the generator is kept to an appropriately low level by submerging the tube bundle deeper at one end of the generator than the other.
