摘要:
A geothermal power generation system comprising a geothermal water lift and a geothermal power generator is shown. The geothermal water lift comprises a well bore extending from the surface downwardly into the earth, a casing affixed inside to well bore, and a tubing extending downwardly through the casing creating an annulus area in the well bore between the casing and the tubing. Fluid is introduced into the annulus area from the surface and flows downwardly, gaining temperature due the temperature gradient with the surrounding earth, until it reaches an open end of the tubing down hole. The fluid reverses direction into the tubing and begins rising upward toward the surface. The pressure decreases on the fluid as it rises until it reaches critical vapor pressure and begins to boil increasing velocity of the stream. Power is generated at the surface through turbines operably connected to a power generator including through a fluid turbine that utilizes the momentum of the fluid/gas stream.

Boreholes used for generating geothermal energy or other purposes are formed at least in part by accelerating projectiles toward geologic material. Interaction between a projectile and the geologic material may generate debris or other material. The temperature of this generated material may be used to determine the potential for generation of geothermal energy using the borehole. Based on the temperature of the material, a fluid having a different temperature than that of the material is provided into the borehole for generation of power using geothermal energy.

A direct insertion ground loop heat exchanger, comprising an at least partially hollow pointed driving tip having at least one orifice therethrough for dispersing water through the driving tip to ease insertion into the ground, such that placing the driving tip onto the ground and urging water through the orifices will separate and part the ground easily, permitting the insertion of the driving tip deeper and deeper into the ground in combination with a hollow outer tube having an inner diameter attached to the driving tip, said tube extending upwardly from out of the driving tip and terminating above the ground for accessibility. Therefore, by urging water through the direct insertion ground loop heat exchanger, water sprays out from orifices in the driving tip, making insertion into the ground quite simple and easy.

The field of the invention relates to systems and methods for exchanging heat from the degradation, decomposition, and chemical/biochemical transformation of municipal, industrial, and other types of waste. In one embodiment, a heat extraction system may include a closed-loop fluid circulation piping channeled throughout at least one heat extraction well oriented throughout a waste mass. The piping is fluidly coupled to a heat exchanger. A first circulation fluid is circulated through the closed-loop circulation piping into various depths of the waste mass to transfer thermal energy between said mass and said heat exchanger. In one embodiment, the transfer of thermal energy between the waste mass and the heat exchanger is used as alternative energy method and to control at least one of shear strength, compressibility, and hydraulic conductivity of the waste mass.

A geothermal heat exchanger 1 includes a water injection pipe 2 that is installed underground and to which water is supplied from above ground and a steam extraction pipe 3 that is installed underground so as to be contiguous to the water injection pipe 2. The steam extraction pipe 3 has a plurality of gushing ports 5 at its lower part, and pressure in the steam extraction pipe 3 is decreased approximately to pressure required by a turbine 6. The steam extraction pipe 3 is formed such that the diameter of the steam extraction pipe 3 becomes smaller from the lower side of the geothermal region toward the upper side of a ground surface G. Water supplied to the water injection pipe 2 becomes high-temperature pressurized water by heat supplied from the geothermal region 4, and gushes from the gushing ports 5 into the steam extraction pipe 3 in an atomized state, and is then converted into a steam single-phase flow, and allows a power generator 7 to conduct power generation. Furthermore, an air layer 19 is formed at the upper part of the water injection pipe 2 by lowering the water level of water that is supplied to the water injection pipe 2, and a heat insulating portion defined thereby is provided in a region contiguous to a low-temperature region 26 closer to the ground surface.

A ground source heat exchanger for use with a heat pump. The heat exchanger comprises a foldable, expandable outer pipe with an inner pipe that is placed within a borehole. The outer pipe may be folded and sealed at one end while out of the borehole. The outer pipe is inserted into the borehole then expanded by pressure to minimize the annulus between the outer pipe and the ground. The inner pipe is inserted and the inner and outer pipes are connected to the heat pump for circulation of heat exchange fluid.

A method and system for extracting geothermal heat from a well is provided, wherein the well casing has positioned therein an inner pipe nested within an outer pipe. The space between the well casing and the outer pipe may be filled with an insulating medium. A liquid heat conducting material flows into and down through the inner pipe. The inner pipe may be fitted with a one-way valve so that the liquid heat conducting material does not reverse direction and flow upwards towards the surface. As the liquid heat conducting material approaches the bottom of the inner pipe, it enters into a heat exchanger, absorbs heat and transforms to its gaseous state. The gas rises upward through the space between the outer pipe and the inner pipe and into the electricity generating component.

A system for adapting an HVAC system in an existing building for utilizing geothermal energy is described. The system uses an incoming flux of geothermal energy, along with a plurality of heat exchange surfaces adapted to receive the incoming flux of geothermal energy. The system also includes an interface between the HVAC system and the heat exchange surfaces. The interface is adapted to transfer the geothermal energy to the system. A multiplier sub for a drill rig and several drilling assemblies are also described, along with a system to reduce vibration.
